Re: And Again - Another Bargain On Ebay
If you are resourceful enough, you needn't pay ridiculous sums of money for simple parts. Buy a decent looking used set of these, then get some truck bed liner spray paint, makes them look like brand new, fills in any cracks or gauges in the plastic like a filler and protects them and makes them mor...

Re: 1.6 GL 49k original resto
Hi, Now to lighten the mood a little. How is the other resto coming along? Are you still working on the other 1.6GL? Andrew. We certainly are! Though its a much bigger job than this and my dad has a Stag he needs to finish first but once thats gone in hopefully a couple of months we can really get ...

Re: 1.6 GL 49k original resto
I might have missed something here, but I haven't seen anyone post on this forum that they wanted to buy the car to strip it for spares! All I'm hearing is your speculation that it was going to be broken for spares. Hi, Could the negotiations have been in private over PM or on the phone, maybe? And...

Re: 1.6 GL 49k original resto
Hi, That's fantastic, the car was a real bargain. In a funny way it's almost too good to sell. I hope that you are able to find a buyer who will cherish it for the rarity it is. All the best, Andrew. I agree that is a lovely car. Shame you will put the work into it then sell it on, but I guess your...

Re: MOT Failure - to scrap or not?
Dont worry guys, the car was sold to me and my dad and we're gonna restore it back to how it looked when it left the factory. Theres a build thread in the restorations section though we wont be able to do any serious work on it until the other project is finished first, and that was in an even worse...

Original capri magazine
I recently got hold of a 1.6gl automatic with only 42k (genuine) on the clock, picked it up for stupid cheap and saved it from being broken up for spares and we plan on restoring it. Anyway i was going through the paperwork and found this: https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8786/18429217511_ad2040bd70_k....

Re: 1.6 GL 49k original resto
Hi, Congratulations on your purchase, it looks like you got a bargain there. It's good that you've saved it from being broken, it looks like it's in much better condition than it was described in the ad. I seem to recall that it needs a lot of welding, which made it uneconomical to repair. Are you ...

1.6 GL 49k original resto
Just picked up this gorgeous little 1.6 gl automatic from a fellow board member. Managed to get in before someone else who evidently wanted t break it up for parts! :wank: This car only has 49k original miles on it, something that's backed up by a long history. The engine sounds like its brand new, ...

Re: Tappity engine
But, you didnt mention if you need to replace the rocker cover gasket, do i need to? I wont bother with the valve clearances as i have no clue what they are supposed to be, and i dont own a manual and cant afford one right now, but i will get a friend who is a mechanic to have a look for me instead...

Re: Tappity engine
Yea I’d agree with the comments above. The only thing you can do relatively easily is check the spray bar is working as it should, and then check the valve clearances. Adjust if they need doing. Pintos are kinda known for being a bit rattly though! I did a few vids earlier this year, check em out i...

Tappity engine
My engine is quite tappety, not terrible but is there anything (short of a full blown rebuild) i can do to reduce the noise a little? Its got the right kind of oil in it already (hasnt been changed for a while though), was wondering if there's a better kind that can reduce the tappety noise a bit, o...

Might be a silly question...
This may sound silly, but how the hell do you valet a car properly? Ive cleaned mine so much and there's always bits of white left over rubbing compound residue left over in the small nooks and crannies and its bloody annoying me! No matter what i do i cant seem to get it fully clean, this white stu...

Re: Painting overriders
Plasti dip would get my vote if it's for a colour change. To bring back the original colour, there's probably better options! Hi, True, but bear in mind that all of the existing paint would have to be removed for it to look any good. Could be a time consuming job. Personally I use Autoglym Vinyl an...

Re: Wanted, lots of bits
I have a full set of GL seats but wear to drivers bolster and stitching has split on back of rear seats. They are grey. I don't want a lot for them though and could possibly arrange them to be dropped off to you. Ooh, could you maybe snap a couple of pictures of the damage so i can see if its somet...

Painting overriders
What is a good paint to use on the rubber bumper over riders?
Mine are looking a bit sorry for themselves and a previous owner seems to have painted them with normal paint and its flaking off.
