Re: Fitting rear suspension???
In defence of your garage there is every possibliity that they may have had to remove the two large plastic wheel arch covers in order to remove the rear shock top nuts. True, there are small access holes where in theory you should be able to undo the two nuts on the top of the damper rod. In realit...
Re: Heater
If your motor is blowing cold air then you may have a circulation problem, are the pipes into and out of the matrix getting hot?. Even with a non working blower motor you should get hot air through the screen vents.I tried one of the plug in heaters in the van last winter - fucking useless! you can ...

Re: Paint spray or vinyl wrap
If you're saying you could get a full respray for £1,000 then you'd better have it vinyl wrapped because a paint job for that money would be a crap one!

Re: Leaf spring shackle
Sounds like you have lost the bushes that fit into the chassis when you removerd the shackles.
If you are going from multi to single leaf springs you will need the shorter U bolts as well.

Sounds like the vacuum pipe from the servo to inlet manifold is leaking. If not then the servo is U/S.

Re: expansion tank leak
No problem. Wasn't having a rant but I do find it pretty hard to undertstand why dedicated parts suppliers aren't first on the list of people to contact if folk need parts/advice etc. I've been breaking Capris for nigh on 20 years now but obviously that's not enough compared to trawling around scrap...

Re: 1981 3.0 running problems
We sent the original dizzy off to H & H ignitions who refurbished it and converted it to an electronic module.
It came back with a brand new coil included. Two wires to connect to the coil. Pop it back in, set the timing and bingo, a piece of piss - and it looks original.

Re: 2.8i Overheated now misfiring
It's not that serious a job. Unless you had got it really hot I doubt if the heads will need skimming.
If you get the job done by someone who knows how to use a torque wrench properly and uses quality gaskets and rebuilds the engine properly it's all straightforward.

Re: 1981 3.0 running problems
The auto choke needs a good water flow through it in order to work properly, That may be one of your problems. If the operating spindles are worn then air will be drawn in through them weakening the mixture off. We recently finished rebuilding a 3 litre Ghia for a customer and we fitted a brand new ...

I have some , I dare say that the other spares guys mentioned have as well so why not try us first rather than as a last resort after trailing round scrappies hoping for something that might do the job?

Re: Mk1 facelift 3.0 RS/GXL gear knob - whats it worth?
The fact that someone at some time has paid crazy money for one means that everyone who has one will expect a similar amount, it doesn't mean they will get it.Some may think it's greed, others may think it's worth a try, everyone wants as much as they can get for anything nowadays. I would never hav...

Re: Mk1 facelift 3.0 RS/GXL gear knob - whats it worth?
Everything has a value. What you consider to be silly money may well be the market value of an item. You know what you'd be willing to pay so either that gets you a gearknob or it doesn't, depends on how much you really want one. Good stuff is getting rarer so it's only natural that the prices will ...
