Re: Ford capri for sale

Hi Andrew , it's been 4 days but no one has been to view it yet but getting people offering to buy it from £500 up to £2200 but I just think £3000 is a fair price . But as you know it's only worth what someone is willing to pay , will probably end up just keeping it and doing the work required. Alex

Yes brilliant tip there !! It's amazing how sometimes our old cars still manage to baffle us from time to time we tend to overcomplicate things sometimes.

Re: Strut rebuild , roller top mounts or standard ?

My springs do the same when I turn the steering they also move and they also make a clunking noise . Good shout about the roller strut top bearings being to harsh 😉 I had never thought of that , so I will be getting mine from Burton.

Strut rebuild , roller top mounts or standard ?

Hi Folks, that's the capri parked up for the Winter so I can start to catch up with the work needing done to keep her in tip top condition. I have noticed that she is lying pretty low at the front and I have a steering wheel shake when turning right. I have decided it is time to give the struts a go...

Re: 3.0 Ghia - Problems

Just a thought but make sure your online fuel filter is sitting across the way not up and down the way . I had the same problem with my pinto it would take a few turns to start her up because the fuel was draining out of the filter back to the pum . I got a longer petrol hose so now the filter sits ...

Re: Aluminum & and J-B weld for fixing rust ?

Hi there, I had the same issue recently, I did not want a full back to metal re-spray etc, but for a year I would knock out a bit of rust and fill and cover over, a few months down the line and the rust is showing again. I had already decided I was going to have the rust cut out, welded in new meta...

Re: Aluminum & and J-B weld for fixing rust ?

Cutting out is always going to be the best bet but if grinding back treat the metal with a rust converter (Jenolite or something similar) even if the metal looks clean. Also bear in mind that most rust comes from behind a panel where there is little paint protection so make sure you seal and protec...

Re: Aluminum & and J-B weld for fixing rust ?

Grind it out and mig weld a small plate in there and then apply several thin coats of a decent primer . You can hire a mig welder or even better buy one 2nd hand for not a vast amount and then you will be setup for being able to do proper body repairs for years to come. Filler is fine as a thin ski...

Aluminum & and J-B weld for fixing rust ?

Hi folks , I am trying to think of ways I can get the rust to stay away longer on my capri . I always just use p38 filler after removing all the rust but it just comes back the next year . What about using J B weld to bond and aluminum onto a lip / edge that is thinner than the panel then using fill...

Re: Dixie air horn wiring ( realy)

Just an update on the Dixie horns I managed to wire them up using the diagram that Andrew posted would have been lost without that so thanks for that Andrew. The horns sound fab and are pretty loud not bad for £22.00 from Ebay . The reason for the switch on the dash was I wanted to keep my own car h...

Re: Dixie air horn wiring ( realy)

Remember the fuse rating is dependant on the rating of the wire you are using. 15amp fuse in 20amp wire...nice and safe. 20amp fuse in 15amp wire and if something goes wrong, I can smell smoke and your FIRE and theft policy is gonna be needed. The guy in Halfords said the thickest wire they did was...
