Seat recolouring
Following on from my seat colour change musings, today I took the plunge and gave it a go. Here is my MO: Seat fabric completely removed from seat, all fixings removed, vacuumed and wet vac cleaned. Fabric sections then laid loose over the padded frame of an old seat. Whole thing placed inside my ol...

Re: Another one in the 2.8i laser owner club
I don't mind getting it wrong, the 80's was a long time ago. It's when you politely correct people and tell them the 3.0 wasn't an injection or that Ford never made a 2.9 capri, and then they tell you that YOU are wrong, and that there was one. That really gets my goat. Oh, and when people think the...

Re: That was unexpected
Good god no. Take them out (do one by one so you don't mix your plug leads up) cold, and use a soft wire brush. To be honest, if they have never been changed to your knowledge, I'd put a new set in there, along with a set of leads. With all the ignition troubles you have been having, it's best to st...

Re: cheap capri anyone?????
Shame, the A posts look pretty solid. I bet that one could have gone again. My mate tried something similar on his cortina as he couldn't get the ride height HIGH enough for some silly reason. His were like rubber coils that you thread through the spring and stop portions of it compressing. They loo...

Fair enough. But learn how to adjust your points yourself, it is a good skill to know.

Re: Will this be ok?
Personally, I'd save my money and get something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Pinto-Electronic-Ignition-Kit-Coil-/120763001813?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFord%7CModel%3ACapri&hash=item1c1e092bd5 Other similar kits are around. These used to be well over £...

Re: uprated brakes
Yikes, sounds like you are. You will certainly need to change the front suspension like Glyn says. Andy C on here did a 2.9 conversion on his, and quite sensibly fitted front coil over springs, as he had no idea how high or low the front of the car would sit. This way he could adjust it once everyth...

Re: just a good word
No, it's not much of a pain. For whatever reason, the starter motor is fitted on the off side on an auto, and so ford put the battery tray on the off side to keep the battery closer to it. Another thing you will need to do Kid is to bypass the starter inhibitor. This is a small relay box fitted in t...

I wish I had kept my capri auto in hindsight. I've given up tonking it around the place and now just enjoy cruising about.
I couldn't give my old auto box away 8 years ago, now there are none about.

Re: Oil in cylinder 4 urgent question.
Stem seals are easy to spot. You'll get puffs of blue smoke out the back on start up and on a gear change, but not when cruising at a constant speed.
Head gasket is another possibility. Is there any cream cheese on the dip stick, or frothy oil?

Re: Oil in cylinder 4 urgent question.
It could just be what you describe, leaking rocker cover. Worser case you have a piston ring gone. Do you have any smoke puffing out of the oil filler at all?

They are lovely Mike, but surely unless you have a car with that exact colour door cards in, they won't match anything.

Re: just a good word
You will need to make up a longer starter motor lead. I think some people say a 2.8 one fits, but I got a longer one made up with plenty of slack.
