Re: Drivers door key barrel

Hey thanks for the photos Steve, that helps a lot. I did try and and remove the black surround, but it would'nt budge. The only problem I have is the original housing, I think the alloy is damaged, so I don't reckon the flappy thingy will sit in the casing. I may need to swap the old core with pins ...

Re: Drivers door key barrel

Buy any 2nd hand 'lock in door' type lock barrel. Remove door card etc. Remove the old lock barrel from the door. Get both barrels on a bench and table in front of you. Ensure there is plenty of space, a selection of small tools and that you wont be interrupted Print out the instructions from the t...

Respray

She went into the bodyshop today to be resprayed, she is having the bonnet, front wings, valance, grill, light surrounds, slam panel and both doors done. Both doors have several door dings, so it will be nice to get them sorted. :) Plus it will be nice to get rid of that black bonnet, I know some fo...

Re: Door mirrors

Thanks fellas, I'm yet to fit it back in to the whole surround, but I cant see there being a problem, seems to work ok regarding the movement. I'm having the front wings and bonnet resprayed in the next few weeks, so I will most probably fit it back in then.

Tailgate Struts

Hi there, Where is the best place to buy THE correct tailgate struts from, ones that are conductive and have the spade terminal connections. The ones I have at present are the Nitro-lift brand, they are shorter than the original Ford struts and the ends keep coming off due to the thread being differ...

Capri laser mats

I had some Capri laser embroidered badge/patches made for a set of car mats that I had, I wasn't sure on colour choice so I had black/red and grey/red made, what do you think? 1a.JPG 5.JPG Put badge on mat in position and mark around the badge with chalk. 1.JPG Start by burning off top pile layer wi...

Re: Door mirrors

Ok, I've made some headway with this N/S mirror problem that I'm having, why is nothing ever easy? The easy solution would have been to buy a new mirror from Martin, this is what I was originally going to do, but due to my mirror being a chunky London Taxi/Escort/Left hand drive/??? with a wi...

Re: Drivers door key barrel

Can a secondhand barrel be taken apart and the front face-plate be used to fit on my barrel, or have I got to get a new lock with key? I'm not sure if the faceplates can be swapped over, hopefully they can as that would be an easy solution. As a worse case scenario all you have to do is switch the ...

I think he has some barrels without keys.

Can a secondhand barrel be taken apart and the front face-plate be used to fit on my barrel, or have I got to get a new lock with key?

Cheers.

Fortunately it wont be expensive, Im presuming you've ordered a 2nd hand barrel by now
I cant find one that is listed for a Capri, I've even searched for a whole replacement lock with a key, but no luck.

Re: Leaning (leaf springs)

Lol  Thanks guys. I've had a look at the front, it doesn't seem to be leaning, front spring looks ok. When stood at the rear, you can only see a slight lean on driver side, but the wheel to arch clearance is half inch less when compare to the N/S rear. wheel. I would imagine the O/S rear spring...

Leaning (leaf springs)

Hi fellas, I've notice the Capri is leaning on one side at the rear (driverside), its had brand new shocks, and the leaf springs look ok.

Can it be driver side spring is weaker?
