Re: Considering a 2.8i overseas

I agree with Andrew though it is not a bad price and it might be worth you working out the cost of the parts needed to restore it. I guess the deciding factor is whether you would be intending to do much of the work yourself or pay for a body shop to do that.

Re: Fr 34 cam

FR32 is a good camshaft. I had one in the Pinto i built when into kit cars a couple of years ago. It has a nice smooth power delivery which i found was nicely complimented by distributor less ignition. It just makes the Pinto that little bit better without taking away anything from the character or ...

Re: CCI Parcel Shelf

Were there different colours of the grey carpet for different models and years ? The new carpet Danny kindly sent is light grey (grey primer colour) whilst the remains of the old carpet or the old shelf is darker than the shelf itself.

Re: we buy any car

I must confess to also liking the meercats :agree: The advertising industry seems to exist in a world of its own, ignoring all common sense and traditional marketing ideas and laughing all the way to the bank. Little thought seems to be given to the reality that an irritating TV advert is likely to ...

Re: CCI Parcel Shelf

Grey one now on order as I finally picked the car up at the weekend and saw that's what it has. I can transfer the rubber, reinforcing strip, strings and the hinge parts from the old shelf but does anyone have a suggestion for what type of carpet to use please ?

Re: New member

Nice looking car. I had a 1.6 L of around that age several years ago and frankly found the upholstery looked at least as good as the respective GL of the time. In fact the only thing it seemed to lack was opening rear windows. I dropped a 2.1 in it but it sadly ended it's days in a towing accident.

Im in the middle of stripping and prepping 5 tired looking pepperpot at present by hand so i can appreciate the amount of hard work you must have put in to get a finish that good.

Re: CCI Parcel Shelf

CCI do the shelves in black as well as grey. If they only had grey on offer I would have ordered one without hesitating but now Im wondering which cars would have had black shelves ?

Re: My Ever Changing 1985 laser!

You are making quick and bold progress. If it's not a rude question, what did you have to pay for the 2.9 engine with it's ECU and loom etc. Im planning a transplant for my (non Capri) project car.

Was there a problem with the Type 9 gearbox or are you changing for reasons of originality ?

Mine have just arrived. Anyone know if they would have left the factory with the rims polished and lacquered or would they have all been sprayed strato silver all over ?

Re: 280 - To sell or keep?!?

Capri values are buoyant and 280s are top of the pile. The only Capris which exceed it in present value are the very rare specials such as the Tickford, Zackspeed, 3100 etc. I was looking at a 280 on Ebay recently which was up for £ 14k, lower mileage than yours but the paintwork looked duller and h...

Re: 2.8 pepperpots. Are they worth anything?

They dont look at all bad, its a close thing but the 4 spokes do just look right on an S. Maybe thats just because im used to seeing them though, im not sure. It would be interesting to see from old sales literature whether pepperpots were offered as a factory option on the S

Re: 2.8i wanted please(£7600 budget)

Ok, not a 2.8i but this car is for sale at a dealer's not far from me and I got a mechanic mate to go over it in detail as i was seriously thinking of buying it. In the end I got an earlier 2.8i within my budget but this was a very close second. Every indication is that it is entirely genuine low mi...

Re: What do these numbers mean on my 205 block?

It would probably be cheaper to have the top of the block planed to restore the compression rather than replace the pistons. The low compression pistons would then be sitting at the top of the block in the way high compression pistons are designed to do. The only downside would be you would need to ...
