Its a very old joke, you know the type that goes round and round.
Time for me to belt up and cool off now.

Re: Pinto Without Viscous Fan?
Solidly fixed fans were the norm for many years on Pinto engines. Anyone tells you something different just put it down to a viscous rumour.

Re: Different cover
I have one of the leather ones. They are a bit of a sod to fit but dont look bad when done. They delete the speaker grille though which some people feel could restrict ventilation for the sterero

Re: Autodata manual
Most of the Capri II Haynes manuals had the words ( including Series III) under the title and should be fully relevant. Wiring diagrams for late model L,GL,S etc should be relevant to a Laser as it was only really a trim change. At some point in the mid 70s there was a redesign of the internal confi...

Re: Wanted-MK3 capri master cylinder
Its worth doing a search on this and the other forum for fixes and workarounds for master cylinders. Some of the cylinders aren't widely available and I think Granada master cylinders were being used as a replacement on the 2.8i, they fit the same but are slightly larger which is thought to be a goo...

Excellent pictures and so lucky they agreed to take these models out from their dusty storage.
For some reason I find the look of the Taunus coupe particularly stunning. I guess thats partly because we didnt have it in the UK,

Re: What wire
I might have one here that will do. Can you measure how long the cable needs to be ? Reason Im asking is I have a battery to starter motor lead that came with a Pinto engine I bought years ago to rebuild. Its around somewhere in a box of odd wires and i can dig it out if suitable . I know it was out...

Re: Capri MK2 or MK3 3.0 Ghia Wanted
Found this on carandclassic, although started life as a 3.0ghia, now an S replica with decent 2.8i interior (using 5 speed front seats)! I’ve copied the link here purely because it looks in good condition; https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1086047 I was just trying to work out that interior. Are...

How much did you end up having to pay for a 2.8 axle with LSD by the way ?

Re: Hmmm....very interesting
That CCI kit looks very much like the Pilgrim Martini. I had better hastily add I only know this because I once bought and rebuilt a Pilgrim Sumo kit car (AC Cobra replica) back in the day. They sold thousands of Sumos but about 5 Martinis and there dont seem to be any photos of it even on the inter...

Re: Ignition Ballast resistor - Cologne V6
"As you say, I will check the difference in voltage across the coil during starting and running " You dont actually need the car running to check this, just check the voltage with the key first in the ignition position and then held in the starting position. Unplug the small lead from the ...

Re: Capri 500 Prototype
A turbocharged Capri may have just left too much of a price and performance gap from the 2.0 Lasers though. I suspect if they hadn't gone the 500/ 280 route the 2.8i special would have been due for a minor update and it could be said that a change to roadwheel size and seat colour would have done th...

Re: Choke flooding engine
I changed a 38/38 on a Pinto to manual choke and found i hardly needed to use the choke at all for starting. It was really only needed to set a fast idle for the first few minutes of warmup.

Re: sunroof stuck
Im sure more experienced people will be along with advice soon but I would suggest you start by carefully removing the sunroof section's headlining to provide more visibility of what is going on. Then with someone else to help you carefully raise the corner which has dropped and (carefully) see if t...
