Guess what I'm about to ask??
<r>...yep, you have chosen... wisely.<br/> <br/> Anybody have, or know anywhere I can get, a set of Motorcraft contact breaker points and condenser? Can't find anywhere that can get them!<br/> <br/> Pretty sure the gay patterned condenser has been quietly at fault for all this time - the new set of ...

Well..
<t>..since crashing her into some railings (blushes), I bent up my front bumper pretty good. I'm either going to remove it completely or cut it into 3s, throw the middle bit in a skip and fit little corner bumpers. And spray it black. The rear will be taken off completely.<br/> <br/> But the upshot ...

Fault on Car?
Would have thought it'd be less specific though, like 'Fault on Vehicle' or something.
...maybe F*ck Off C*nt? Less likely, I'll admit, but it works!

Hey Nat..
<r>..got those o-rings through the post, nice one! Will fit them once I have smashed my contact breaker points up with a hammer. I mean, got the car running again.<br/> <br/> Like I say, if you need anything similar, givvus a shout, I've got a few things knocking around like bits of trim and little ...

Stupid points. Stupid condenser.
Is this what I need to throw them in the bin?

10-4 number one
..I'll try some new parts. I did notice that the new set of points now seems to have become slightly pitted also (knackered condenser?), so yeah, I'll try that.

I was very careful
not to turn the dizzy as I didn't want to mess up the timing.. stuck her in 5th and rocked her to set the points I'm going to try a new condenser today and a new dizzy cap as the old one can shift (very) slightly in its mountings.... thanks for the advice, btw

Would over fueling cause this?
Like if the choke was not turning itself off fully or something was sticking open? Everything on the carb seems to move freely, but my knowledge of carburettors......well, I have no knowledge of carburettors.
Sound logical? Or just a stab in the dark from a desperate man?

Yes and no..
The linkages have not been agitated enough to dislodge anything.. choke flaps move freely, but stick very slightly... no more than one would expect.

Last week a man looked at mine for ages..
..whilst I spied from me bedroom window. He takes in the matt black paint, the leopardy interior, greasy wheels, dents and damage and rust.. then says to his wife.........
"Bloody fantastic," with a big smile on his face
If only it still worked now

Tomorrow..
..I'll take the rocker cover off and measure valve clearances. And that will also give me enough clearance to get the auto choke out for a good clean.
