Re: Sunroof - What Can Happen

It could certainly be done, but you’d have to REALLY want the challenge to pay over £1k for it. With that amount of corrosion (and that’s just what we can see!) it’s worth more as a sum of its parts, sadly. Edited to add that it’s on eBay and they want £3k. Twice that will buy you a very tidy exampl...

Re: Sunroof - What Can Happen

I’m very much of the opinion that prices are what they are; old Fords are valuable (which can be both good and bad). That Sierra however isn’t worth a lot more than £1200, in fact I wouldn’t even pay that personally. Whilst it’s generally very difficult to buy a car, restore it and recoup your money...

Re: How could they!

Went down to my local garage today to book an MOT for the 2.0. And it's being knocked ;) down :o I took my first ever car there nearly 40 years ago and the 2.0 has been tested there every year since 2002. Seems like the brothers that ran it have called it a day as there is no suggestion they have m...

Re: Capri on Steve Wright

Two mentions that I heard, although it could have been more, for the Capri on The Big Show today. I think the subject was listeners' favourite cars that they have owned. One from a current owner called Rachel who owns a 1986 2.8 Special, and there was somebody called Aaron who used to own a 2.0 Las...

Re: Most Expensive Capri ?

Lovely car :agree: This car looks stunning in Modena green, although the HPI check in the listing states that it may not be the original colour. I wonder who restored it? Andrew. I think they were green, white or blue only :headscratch: Looks a nice job but I would never change a colour from it's o...

Re: WD-40

I’m going to try this XCP stuff, I normally use ACF-50 which is very good but the XCP looks really good value. I think there are pros and cons with each. ACF-50 doesn’t dry and penetrates into existing corrosion but leaves an oily residue before eventually washing off. XCP seems thicker and should s...

Re: Yet another Ford....

This is where I get frustrated .......ford dont make oil or filters . I would love to know who their suppliers are so one could buy the same product without the cost normally associated with genuine parts. But if your getting ford oil and filters at a good price why not buy there . I like Penrite o...

Re: Yet another Ford....

The timing belts however are a complete nightmare to change, fortunately the interval is 10 year/150,000 miles which to me suggests it was never actually intended to be replaced at all! Yep I heard this too. IIRC the timing belt on tbese Ecoboost engines actually runs through the sump oil.!! Changi...

Re: Yet another Ford....

My mother currently has a C-Max with the 100ps engine and it’s decidedly pedestrian! Her previous car was a Focus with the 125ps version and that was perfectly fine. I’ve not driven anything with the 140ps version but the Fiestas in particular must go well! They’re actually tuneable these engines as...

Re: MOT Passworthy or Failworthy?

I didn't realise that the bounce test wasn't part of the MOT anymore Neither did I, although I hadn`t actually seen them do one for a few years. Could this be because modern cars have so much stiffer springs that it`s not that easy to actually get it to bounce? I believe the reason is that vehicles...

Is that just stress or is there some corrosion on the other side too? Something else to worry about. Looks OK underneath Steve. I'll clean it up to make sure but looks like a stress crack to me. https://i.postimg.cc/dtFjjc3q/DSC-0573.jpg Clean the crack out with a Dremel or similar Peter and then d...

Re: MOT Passworthy or Failworthy?

These were noted as an advisory on the MOT that was performed on the 25th January, the comment states "Nearside Rear Shock absorbers has slight external damage to the casing (5.3.2 (b))". One of the absorbers doesn't rebound, as can be seen in the photo, but this was not mentioned. The ex...

I like that. its a nice colour too, I wish people would order cars in nice colours these days instead of the endless monochromes you see everywhere. Tell me about it. I first saw a Focus belonging to mjcapri in 'stealth grey' and thought it looked quite nice and interesting 2 - 3 years ago... fast ...
