Re: Big up for Jason....

I think you're right. When I look at the reviews on the Porter Press website there's a weird thing. They are all five star (well one is a four) for both versions - BUT, the reviews for the Collector's are the ones that always say it's good value. Counter-Intuitive as that may be I guess the premium ...

Re: Big up for Jason....

Nice to see a swap market emerging! Interesting I'm seeing that 82% of people want the Collectors Eds of "Capri 50". Same with TCYAPY where the Coll Ed is the bigger seller which threw me - there are those that only see value in a £30 quid book while there's the larger more premium £80 mar...

Re: The Book Steve Keeps Talking About or TBSKTA

Aw, thank-you gents. I tried and I'm glad you like it. The new book will be great but the sheer size of The Cars You Always .... means there's more written info in that book on Capri than its sister book which is more visual. I can see that people want the new one, "Capri 50", which is gre...

Re: Capri 50: Cover art

Thanks, I'm glad you like it, I know the illustrator will do a special job with this as he did with the profiles in the Collector’s Edition of The Cars You Always which is beginning to sell out now. I’ve just put a survey up BTW which has some more sneak preview images which you’re welcome to take –...

Capri 50: Cover art

I'm feeling rather happy. My illustrator is the same one that drew those lovely profiles in the Collector’s Edition of The Cars You Always…. He came up with this concept artwork for the new Capri 50 book’s cover. What do you think of his sketch that now needs finishing? I think I’ll do a double-side...

I'm interested in registering for your book, but the link provided doesn't appear to be working for me.

Andrew.
Sorry about that! I evidently seem incapable of the basics like pasting a link - try this one here, it should work OK... https://www.stevesaxty.com/capri50-register

Re: Capri 50th Anniversary Book

Thanks for registering, it’s heading to sell-out after just a few days so I’m rather overwhelmed! Yes, the Paris Bkue Special is all drawn by the illustrator in Paris and looks great. Here’s the roll-call of the heroes that will join us one last time in print: * GBX in clay

Capri 50th Anniversary Book

So it took me 23 years to get around to doing another book on the Capri and here it is, another one! Yes, another book that I've been quietly working away on to celebrate the car's 50th anniversary. Many of you have a copy of my book, " The Cars You Always Promised Yourself " and I'm reall...

Re: Special Forum Price On Saxty's Book

That’s a very good saving Steve. Thanks for the offer when can we put our names down for the special book ? I am just writing the last words today and so it's two months from publication I'd guess. I'm going to set up a page for the book so that existing buyers can put their names down. The will ge...

Special Forum Price On Saxty's Book

I’ve got some news. You may have read here about my book, The Cars You Always Promised Yourself or own a copy. There’s a video of me flicking through it here. https://www.stevesaxty.com/videos The book 2-3 times bigger than the old Ford books we all have and full colour, but it costs £44.95 or £79.9...

Re: Question for you

Just being truthful, but the only thing that puts me off the book is the high price. So if it was discounted (even temporarily), then yes I would be more tempted to buy. Not sure if that answers your question or not, but it is my answer :) I would love the book, it looks great, but money rules as a...

Question for you

My publisher is about to do a spring sale on their books, as is normal in their world. I'm always a bit loathe to see my book discounted and thought that maybe a club-only one might be more appropriate. I was thinking that if he did a limited time offer of £10 off Collectors and £7.50 off the Standa...

Re: Ask Rod Mansfield

When you did the 2.8i, I am guessing there was a fairly hard limit on the budget and what you were allowed to put into the car for the price it was going to be sold at, but: What would be the next thing you would have added to the original 1981 2.8i if you had been allowed? Would it have been the 5...

Ask Rod Mansfield

Rod Mansfield’s team created the legendary Sierra Cosworth, Capris Injection and ‘80s RS Escorts. I'm talking to him on Tuesday. He’s writing a piece for my new second book about what it was like to engineer the RS Capris and Capri Injection. What questions have you got for him – let me know! And if...

Bonus points then for those that have the book what the first draft of that tagline was?.... I think it's the not quite as catchy "The kind of car you'd always promised yourself if you could afford it". :D Andrew. Give that man a prize for having trudged through the book! The original cop...
