Why not CCI? if they have them and you need them seems silly to me to be trawling around everywhere.
I think I have some in stock but will have to check.

Re: purple and black wire
So it will fire up and run if you hold it on the key? sounds like a problem with the ballast resistor wire. It's light blue, about two feet long and plugs into the main loom almost under the airbox.
I have some that have come off running cars.

My money would be on the inlet manifold gasket. Change the plenum gasket while you're at it.

All 2.8i's came with fibre teeth in an attempt to cut down engine noise.

Re: Heater stopped working
They're getting hard to come by because not every car being broken has a good heater in it. Most suffer the same problems yours has. The motor is burnt out.
I only have two complete working heater units and one brand new motor in stock at the moment.

Re: Mk2 Speed problem!!
We've just finished a MK2 rebuild and we've changed the anti roll bars for 2.8i ones. Also, we've fitted new suspension inserts and polybushed everything. It handles really well, doesn't wander.Maybe that's the answer?

Re: couple of questions
As long as you have the correct rubber then any Capri screen will fit in any model Capri. We have recently finished restoring a very early MK2 using a MK3 shell and it is fitted with a MK1 screen and rubber.

Re: will they be any 40s carbs in scrap yard?
I tend to list stuff on Ebay mainly because people can't seem to be arsed to pick up the phone or drop me an e mail and place an order - they seem far happier to buy it off e bay and usually end up paying more than I would have asked for it over the phone.
If that's how people want it then fine.

Re: will they be any 40s carbs in scrap yard?
Unfortunately, thanks to the likes of Ebay and forums everybody has some idea of what stuff is worth so the plain fact is either pay the price or do without.

Re: 2.8i strut top mounts
As far as I'm aware there are no "remanufactured"strut top mounts available on the market. I send away good secondhand ones to be blasted and then they're painted. Obviously, the rubbers need to be good or else it's a waste of time. I go through all the tops that I send away and make sure ...

Re: price to repair both floor pans ?
As has already been said, you can't expect a fixed price until the job to be done is inspected. There could be all kinds of horrors lurking. New floorpans from Expressed would be well over £300 for starters, then there's the cutting out and rewelding. Then you may have to factor in any remedial work...
