Re: Burton power Steel cologne camgear.

I have two fiber gear and both fit fine. There is suitable clearance between gears. Both are used but engine they were take were really good. Driven like 50 to 150k kilometers. I got two together 5pcs 2.8 engine blocks. Measuring might be quite hard or impossible, because its only missing something ...

Re: Burton power Steel cologne camgear.

Standard "fiber camgear with standard crankgear fits fine and engine rotates well with it". There is also needed clearance, but fiber camgear won't survive my double valve springs and 7000rpm area. I dont' need adjustable camgear because its useless in Cologne, its so hard to adjust it wit...

Re: Burton power Steel cologne camgear.

I have this one http://www.burtonpower.com/cam-gear-all-steel-type-v4-v6-taunus-tv1419.html and it doesnt fit my 2.8 THERE is no clearance at all. If I put it engine barely rotates at all. It needs to be hammered to fit. Standard camgear fits fine, there is also clearance that it should have. Bit s...

Re: Heritage " Ford Capri Mk1 Facelift 3000GT Resto/Mod

I was at dyno yesterday, dyno gave quite a lot torque and 17 years old engine didnt blow up. https://1drv.ms/v/s!Ak0ev910-aPVuVq7L2NS8CANndbK 675,07 nm torque. We didnt even test at what ignition advance engine would detonate, we played safe. The one who tuned charts said that maybe 3-5 more iginiti...

Re: upgrade brakes

Id like to think if i had E 900 spare to spend on uprating brakes on my weekend car that i'd give it to charity. I know that I'd probably spend it on beer though  Next time when I need to buy new brake pads, disk and tires I will propably save like 200€, compared to what it was before. Though...

Re: 4.0 Cologne

DON'T Go for 4.0 OHV unless you are prepared to buy forged crankshaft and rods or to set rpm limiter to max 5500rpm. Seen 3 times 4.0 OHV crankshaft to fail it has way too long stroke to handle 6000rpm or higher. http://s180.photobucket.com/user/pm00633/media/sierra/WP_20140105_014_zps13afefea.jpg.h...

Re: Heritage " Ford Capri Mk1 Facelift 3000GT Resto/Mod

Fuel tank came from welder, now has about 0,5litre extra capasity and since fuel intake is at the lowest possible point in middle of fuel tank it should be possible to drive fuel tank emptier than before without problems. Fuel tank has now suitaible hose outlet for AN-12 fuel hose "18mm O.D out...

Re: Viscous fan for 2.8

I changed my 2.8 Viscous fan for BMW X5 Viscous fan, fits nice and cooling is quita a lot better, I don't care if it takes 3 or 10bhb to cooling it doesn't matter. If it takes 10 bhb, why not then give it 0.1bar more boost to compensate... https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ak0ev910-aPVl0VfPUpnDx6hd_gN Orange, Cap...

Re: Changing valve stem seals is very worth it

Ofcourse with a Turbo engine Mobil 1 is a good choice, i didn't know the 5W-50 Peak life had 1200ppm of zddp, seems like a good oil for your engine. However this standard 3.0 Essex runs just fine on 20W-50 so i think i'll just stay with that, and Valvoline VR1 has 1300ppm and i can get it cheaper t...

Re: Battery Relocation Help

Battery to boot Pros - More weight to rear axle, better grip - More space to under bonnet - Battery won't won't be affected by heat and dirt, lasts longer. Cons - You need to "work" to get suitable battery holder to make it safe in boot. - You need to calculate how big battery cable you ne...

Re: Valve stem oil seals size advice

I suggest to get green valve seals, they should be suitable with fully synthetic oils. Latest 2.8 models had them fitted by ford. Often black (not all) are made from cheapest rubber materials and won't be suitable with todays oils. They last 50% less time then green ones. Couple of good ones http://...

Re: Changing valve stem seals is very worth it

I am using Mobil 5W-50 Fully Synthetic PeakLife/Rally Formula, because it has about 1200ppm zzdp "zinc" also. Makes old type engine withstand more bearing and surface loads. https://images-eu.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41d6KHEPPzL._SY355_.jpg And I have 2 bar boost, and that rises exha...

Re: Changing valve stem seals is very worth it

Smoke engine is very common with 3.0 Essex. Essex has lots of oil in upper section of engine and if there even little bit fault in valve stem you can almost instantly recognice if from exhaust. My car used to have 3.0 Essex and high pressure oil pump and that totally flooded upper part of engine. I ...
