Re: Classic car insurance

Lancaster have been quite fair by not charging me the 'Cancellation Fee' due to no Monies being owed back as Policy had less than 2 Months left to run. Also when I added Exhaust System changes, they waived the Admin Fee then too as a good will gesture..... That's fair play to them then, thanks for ...

Re: Classic car insurance

Thank you Mike. Between us all we have unearthed a right black hole haven't we? Or rather a grey (as in grey area) hole. All of those different distance restrictions are very interesting actually, glad you posted that. The term used by Coops for the policy which I was offered/quoted was in the vicin...

That's a fascinating and informative post that is Mike, which I've read several times. Thank you for taking the time to post it.

Re: Seals too long - where should I join them?

Good point Steve. I've just had a quick look to see if the more expensive ones are in fact handed then, can't see any indication that they are.

There has been a couple of minor updates to the thread on CP about these. Price mentioned of around £130. Not that bad is it.

Re: Classic car insurance

The problem with these policies, is that is often unusual to have the car stored away from the residential address. That line from the policy which you have quoted is a generalisation to prevent people from leaving the car at home but outside of the garage (thereby mis-using a lower premium). That's...

Re: Classic car insurance

Turns out Paul that it is less restrictive than Flux, and generally not particularly restrictive at all. Surely not Mike. It states that your vehicle has no insurance, unless it is garaged bewteen 10 and 6. Yes, it has to be garaged when at home, but you are assuming that it does not apply when clo...

Re: Seals too long - where should I join them?

It's a shame those ebay ones didn't fit too well. Wonder if the (albeit more expensive) ones would have fitted better. I rarely buy any new parts off ebay, rather use the proper Capri people.

Yes, it's fine. Use Castrol GTX 10/40 Semi. Just changed mine incidentally, and used that.

Re: Tappity engine

Fantastic video about the valve clearances. A couple of additional points worth mentioning: 1) You can't adjust one of the cylinders' valve clearances when the engine's still in the car, because the carb is in the way. There is talk of this on another recent thread. There is a Ford spanner made for...

Re: type 9 gearbox grinding into reverse?

FYI the fill plugs on the diff and gearbox use a weird key - one's square, the other's triangular or hex or something... I can't remember which way round either, but one is square and one is hex. I bought the 'keys' from my local car shop. However, for the square one you can just use a 3/8" so...
