Re: Tailgate strut options..
<t>Yes, I've heard they are stronger but I've never used them myself. A lad at uni had some on his Capri and they seemed good enough and you're right, they're easy enough to fit. It's got to be a better idea than carrying a piece of wood/cane/metal/umbrella/other improvised supportive implement anyw...
Could be....
Obviously it all depends on the usual factors, Let me know what you hear. If it's in Darlo I might well have seen it before now actually. Oh, almost forgot, it snowed a (very) little bit this morning!
Mmm...
Unfortunately it doesn't look like emerging from it's garage in the near future. However, I'm still seriously considering buying one to drive and restore over the spring/summer. Not having one on the road is a nightmare!!! Let me know if you see any up our way with a for sale sign on!!! Cheers.
Not yet....
Newton Aycliffe is just wet and miserable, as per usual. And no one else has Capri. Rubbish!!!

Up and Running!!!
Yep, couldn't agree more. This site has been invaluable to me (and many more) over the years and the fiver is well worth it. I was activated very quickly aswell!
yeah, saw that...
It is red with red wheels. Doubt the real thing had colour coded wheels though.

Belts
<t>Have you checked nothing's loose or catching around the timing/fan belt area? I know it sounds obvious, but I had a 1.6 and the timing belt cover wouldn't tighten properly coz a couple of the bolts had been sheared. Took it of in the end cos of the noise it sometimes made. More of a rattle than a...
Same here...
Seem to remember a couple of people saying they had one and were restoring them, but I've never actually seen one in the metal.

Re: spare wheel well damp and rusty *sigh*
<t>Mine used to get damp in the boot/spare wheel well and I could only put in down to condensation. (Think how wet the inside of the windscreen and dashtop can be some mornings and you have to use the heater to dry it out - there aint one in the back!) Mind you, check the there's no holes in the act...

Keeping the cost down...
<t>You'll still see bargains about, just keep checking and get in there first! I've seen some nice ones for around the 1000 mark recently. Try Autotrader etc. where the sellers arn't necessarily enthusiasts and just want rid of the car. Also the handier you are with the spanners, the less keeping on...

Well done...
Like Tas said, at least we've tried. The ending of the rolling 25 year tax exemption a few years ago really p***ed me off!
Capri GT4
Has anybody seen one recently? Or are they extinct? I'm only asking because I was talking to a lad who says he had one years back. Not the most memorable of special editions I suppose but it would be nice if some have survived. Available in silver, red and black I believe.

Re: You should buy that car Glyn........It has
I think that shade is refered to simply as 'Medium Blue', but I might be wrong. I have an '84 LS in a similar shade called 'Ocean Blue' but I don't think this colour was available on earlier GL models. If anyone knows for sure I'd be interested too.

Me neither....
<t>Not being funny, but like Matty said, why? I'm not going to pretend to know what's involved in doing that conversion, but the car must have been messed around with to make everything fit and work. I'd also dare say the insurance would be a nightmare, and you'd struggle to sell it later cos it's s...

A short story.
<t>I have a 1.6 Laser that's currently in it's garage awaiting restoration. On the way to view another Capri a few years ago, the distributor disintigrated on the A1, about 50 miles from home (and it was getting late!) Anyway, bodged it, got there, bought the car and returned home. I collected my ne...

Yes, really!!!
<t>Remember it's not taxed or MOT'd and hasn't been used for a while. What I'm going to do is get it running and free'd up, maybe taxed and tested, and put a price on it. Or, if you fancied a doing a bit of work yourself, you could have a look and take it as it is. It's not advertised as being for s...

Not me...
<t>I have a blue Capri, but if it left it's garage last night I'd be a bit worried and absolutely amazed!!! <br/> I'm from Co. Durham, Aycliffe to be prescise, where the Capri, in roadworthy form at least, is now extinct. 4 or 5 Years ago there were a few on the town including some nice ones. I assu...
