Re: Capri spotted on tv

I remember when I was a kid, World of Sport I think it was or maybe Grandstand, Saturday afternoon they often used to have, is it called rally-cross????, where they seemed tp be racing round a track of pure mud, sliding around everywhwere. Particularly remember mud encrusted Mk1 Capris and Minis bat...

Re: Tracking devices

I have a remote garage too, that now has a solar panel on the roof which charges 2x 7Ah Yuasa sealed lead acid batteries, these power the led lighting. If I`m storing a car for any time, but don`rt want to take the battery out, I just connect the battery to the solar panel and that will keep it topp...

Re: Replacing Type-F 4 speed Transmission, 2.0 Capri

I`m at a loss, Ford bits are supposed to be easy to swap. I assume the pinion lengths are the same on both starters? Can`t understand it Note your bellhousing is not pulled in to help the starter “pinion” get closer to the flywheel. Or am I missing something, to me this makes common since? You mean ...

Re: Replacing Type-F 4 speed Transmission, 2.0 Capri

To my surprise my capri starter did not fit; different bold patters. Ok so I now have to use the pinto starter big pain has it does not have a clinoid. Well now the biggest glitch of all… the pinto starter gear does not reach my flywheel so the starter will never engage with my flywheel. To me the ...

No no no no no - 70p a GALLON - those were the days!!! `76 ish, my Viva had an 8 gallon tank and if it was absolutely running on fumes you could just squeeze 5 quids worth of 4star in it. Re: Capri spotted on tv

don't know the show, but it looks like the guy from "Please Sir !". Is it? Edit: John Alderton? That was my first thought - even the kids nearby look like the `Please Sir` ones. Then again, it was the `70s, we ALL looked like that :D Surprised no-one spotted this car chase on `Ashes to As...

Re: Capri hot start problem

do we really have no other advice or options for Martin other than buy a new carb? I must be honest, I don`t remember the VV having problems hot starting when new, but then petrol`s changed a lot since `84 just a thought but, as standard, the VV had a load of valves and pipework, a fuel trap in the...

Re: Capri hot start problem

It is a bit of a shame as the VV does have a kind of historical interest value - it IS how the cars came after all. But beyond that, it really doesn`t have anything going for it, as Danny and other.... people have said, the DGAV is just better in every way. Plus you can bin all the pipes, valves, th...

Red hot disc's and you thought they felt perfectly OK ............I got nothing I could say to that  ....... :( Just in STEVEW`s defence, iron begins to glow at about 450`c : the DS11 pads he`s referring to have a flat coefficient all the way to 800`c, so they would apparently be fine while ...

Re: A proper f***ing rant!!!

Andrew,
Yes, I worded it very badly: I meant `we`re all human` (rather than the same), as you say, we should all be valued equally. `Emphasize the differences` was also poorly worded (and mis-spelt): I meant increase divisiveness amongst those already so inclined.

Re: A proper f***ing rant!!!

ow does one really know what is OK at the time, that may prove to be wrong or right later UK age of consent until late 19th century was 12: presumably people then just completely accepted that as the norm (although it`s hard to believe now) Then again look at the holocaust: `normal` people manned t...

If you think you`ve got problems...

Spare a thought for the multi-talented Victoria Beckham: Victoria Beckham reportedly turned to the professionals for help and checked into a wellness clinic after feeling insecure over her diminishing appeal. The former Spice Girls singer used to always come up on headlines, either because of her ma...
