Get yourself a multimeter....testing/tracing/diagnosing 12v electrics is almost impossible without one.

Re: Oily Sparks

That plug is fine....there is oil leaking from the rocker cover or elsewhere onto it. It is not an internal engine problem causing THAT oiliness.

To all the people who insisted on having their opinion on this car here goes! The 2.8 was mine! The car was restored many years ago! It did have new wings inner and outer! Re: Setting a new mileage

but you can only do it at 140mph (think about it) Ive though about it and my brain hurts like it does when I play Portal. Surely.... surely just because the needle only goes to 140 doesnt mean the "drivetrain" (drill in this case) wont be able to go faster? Will the odometer still only cl...

Re: Setting a new mileage

A simple examination of the way the speedo works will show that a drill in reverse will have no effect whatsoever. It's a myth. However, if you want to increase the mileage it will work (so possibly going forward past 000000 to get to your desired mileage), but you can only do it at 140mph (think ab...

Re: When did the "S" become a Laser?

I think Tom is perfectly correct in what he says about the 205 engine, in that the biggest gains were to be had swapping it for an injection one. I did that once for a mate. Fitted the engine, loom, ECU and 5 speed box from a Sierra, coupled to all the suspension, fuel tank, accumulator etc from a ...

No....Tom's car really has won those awards. However, he didn't win "Shed of the Show" at "Up North" way back - my Rat did!

Re: Axle location kit help

Yep I had 190 front springs - 1" on the Rat (I so miss that car) and Marham was always so much fun. One year in the wet the marshalls were marking the slides like strictly - but only for those of us that dared to go out. Bolt on mods did not solve the Capri's handling problems any more than the...

It makes the back end easier to control.....you can still get it sideways coming off a roundabout but without spinning it.

Re: 2.8 fuel problem

You MUST use a gas analyser to set he idle mixture on a 2.8 - many times on here the method for setting a carbed pinto has been detailed but the K-Jetronic adjustment is so fine that it can't be done by ear. You will see how much the % is changed with the smallest movement on the adjuster. You will ...

Re: Engine Swap - Pinto 1600 to Pinto 2000

Two people can easily lift a pinto....rope around it as if you're using a hoist, fence post or similar through the rope and one person either end of the post. And fit the 2.0...the specs given for the 1600 are accurate with those simple mods....ask Dan about the one I built for him....but as far as ...

Do it yourself...it's fairly easy and all the info you need is on this forum. Whatever you do, don't take it to a "modern" garage, if they can't plug it into a laptop they won't know where to start.
