Re: Whats your job!

<t>I'm a self employed sales rep. I work on behalf of a big company based in London and look after Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas. <br/> <br/> Someone once said to me "You'll never get rich working for someone else" which is what inspired me to take up a self employed an...

So, who's who?

On the picture? I assume, and dearly hope, that Daisy is the one in the middle, but who are the rest?

Re: ah there you go then..

The fixed windows are bigger than the opening ones. I had a GL with opening rear windows and you could see the difference next to my laser.

UPDATE

Been out this morning and started the car from cold. Both choke flaps had closed up so I don't think it's that. I'm going to go over the ignition system and timing in a bit so I'll let you know how I get on.

Did you say....

<t>It happens when you floor it, regardless of engine speed? One of mine used to make a hollow rattle if you booted it, but only if you were pulling from low revs. It came from the front of the exhaust/gearbox area, and if I ever get the car on the road again, it will still do it because I never fou...

Another knocking sound question....

<t>Right, while I've got some time to spend on the car, maybe someone can help with this. It's actually more of a rubbing sound than a knock, I think it's coming from the n/s/r, and its frequency is dependant on the road speed.<br/> I've had the car off the floor and spun the wheels as quickly as I ...

I'm doing that today....

I'm going to borrow a strobe light to make sure I do it right!!! I'd never heard of the cambelt jumping a tooth to be honest, but thinking about it there's no reason it couldn't happen.

Thanks.

Right....

<t>Both flaps are staying fully open at idle. This is with the engine warm. I've worked the throttle manually and as you'd expect they don't move at all. If I ease them shut a bit the engine sounds like it's going to cut out. Are they both meant to opreate simultaniously, or should the second one be...

Re: get yourself a can of wd40 or similar

It is a 2.0 Pinto with a 32/36. You've reminded me actually, when I went to buy the car it wouldn't start, turned out the choke flaps were wide open. I'm not sure why to be honest, I put it down to the fact that it still has an auto choke and they're crap. I'll keep you updated. Thanks.

Running rough... Very rough...

<t>The occasional problems I was having with starting and running the Capri from cold have worsened dramatically. Something is not right!!! It never wants to start, and sounds like it's misfiring at idle, whether the engines cold or not. Also, if I step on the accelerator with any enthusiasm, it mis...

What exactly are you doing with this fine example of automotive engineering? Removals? Ram-raids? Would I rather not know?...LOL. Have you bought it or does it belong to an associate? A m2k you say? I like them actually, post a pic if you can.

Looking good that mate.

Those wheels have come up really well. You can get away with so much when you have nice shiny wheels. On the other hand, my brake dust encrusted 4 spokes are making my otherwise tidy laser look a bit tatty at the minute. I'll have to sort them....

Re: noise from new cam...

This is more of a question than an answer really. Sorry. Is it a LC engine? And would this cause it to rattle?
