Re: Electric fuel pump

The car of mine that has this issue would quite happily drain and flatten battery after battery if I let it That is a definite problem your car has, obviously. It should only take a few seconds of cranking for the fuel to be delivered and the car to spring into action. After you have done a ton of ...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Everytime it happens the carb is bone dry - no petrol what so ever in the carb That's quite normal if the car hasn't been driven for a while, mine's the same, everyone's will be. But, my car can still start first time (with choke flaps closed), albeit a little longer with the cranking as the fuel i...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Just have a read of my post again Wayne if you have time, it isn't a problem, that's what I was saying. And that maybe the cars which won't start have something else which isn't helping the issue? Everytime it happens the carb is bone dry - no petrol what so ever in the carb, not even a dribble fro...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Are you guys sure that something else isn't wrong here. I mean, I drive my car frequently all year round, but there can be periods of a few weeks when I haven't, but even then it can start first time (assuming the choke flaps are closed), and yes it can take a little longer to start as the fuel tra...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Whenever I leave my car for more than a week or so she won't fire up, you could sit there all day cranking her and it's not gonna happen, Clive from Ticks advised me that the problem is probably the fuel pump (mechanical) diaphragm(s) are drying out especially with the shit petrol we have these days...

Re: The Queen RIP

I guess all of the above would make our John a bit of a hypocrite, however I agree with what he said in that article whether it makes him a hypocrite or not, I think we should be given a choice on the future of the monarchy and that's just my view on it which I feel entitled too, after all I do help...

I appreciate your sentiment. Thank you. But no military person would kneel for this! We would stand rigidly, immovably to attention, with heads bowed, as a final mark of respect to 'the boss'. Not 'my boss' I'm afraid. Well we had to maintain standards! :poke: :D And yet they still let you in! :pok...

Re: Check those pipes…

Along with some other work in the Autumn, mine is having R9 hose fitted as currently R6, and I only use Super Unleaded (E5) now. Hi Andy, Depending on where you live you could use the Esso stuff which has no Ethanol at all - if you can afford the bloody stuff that is! Wayne Hi Wayne, Like a few oth...

Re: Check those pipes…

Not sure the Ethanol is totally to blame as I have seen fuel lines go like this when we still had leaded petrol, it normally happens on old fuel line where it has a bend in it and over time with constant hot and cold cycles and age it cracks on the outside, only ever seen a couple that went all the ...

Good spot, it was sent to me and I didn't take much notice of the detail, I don't take much notice of anything royal family related tbh.

Re: Spotted on the M6

Saw this rather nice 3.0S on the M6 this afternoon and as we were in a 50 stretch the other half was able to get a quick snap. Also saw a really nice RS2000 on a flat bed. Looked like the sort of car that is ferried between shows. Sorry, no pics of that one. https://i.postimg.cc/3RHTTqBK/DSC-0858-2...

Re: Just a heads up

Yeah , just short bits , maybe 2" long at either end of the main and return fuel line . I think my main fuel hose is plastic.😁 Spot on Hamish. Now that you mention it, does that plastic fuel line need to be or is it ethanol resistant or does ethanol only attack the rubber parts in the system, ...

Re: Just a heads up

IIRC that material type fuel line is used in 2 places on a MK2/3 Capri fitted with a carburettor, at the back - it makes the join from the metal fuel sender pipes to the main fuel lines (may only be 1 line if the car doesn't have a fuel return) and at the front where the main lines connect to the me...
