Would you be able to post more info on your procedures so those who need to may also be able to repair theirs? Do you have some pics in progress for example.

And may never get finished. Good luck though Chris. And I too think you should keep the Pinto.

Re: VW Golf Driven Through Water

Thanks for all the replies. It's petrol. The air intake is high up in the engine bay. I've had a look at the plugs and the coil packs, and the air filter, no obvious signs that the water ever got that high. When I checked after I'd gone through it, engine bay didn't appear to have been troubled by t...

Re: VW Golf Driven Through Water

Thanks! Will definitely look into that, as well as the air filter as previously mentioned. It's just that when I looked soon after, the engine bay appeared water free, so I'm thinking exhaust/sensors as they must have been soaked. Steve, above, mentioned the oxygen sensor, and a quick look around on...

Re: VW Golf Driven Through Water

Thanks for the replies, will look into those areas. It does sound like a misfire but car was perfect before the puddle, and instantly low on power/juddery straight after. I am inclined to think it's exhaust/sensor related.

Re: Still after 32/36 weber and manifold

Brian Connolly, yes. Died in 1997 actually, aged just 51. He was a real star, and he certainly knew how to live. Interesting little story that is Steve. The Sweet's B sides, as well as their later albums were written by the band and showed the hard rock side that the band always had, as opposed to t...

Re: VW Golf Driven Through Water

I will look into the plugs Steve, a quick check in the engine bay showed no obvious signs of water ingress. I was wondering if any water damage to the exhaust/sensors could cause this behaviour?

Re: VW Golf Driven Through Water

Actually Steve, yes, there is. However, the EML light has been intermittently on for several years, and just goes off again usually. Garage once said, probably a faulty sensor just ignore it, Golf's are known for it.

Although, said EML light is flashing now at the moment, never done that before.

I asked for the Sweet Fanny Adams album by The Sweet. And I'm getting it so he must exist. I did have to order it from Amazon myself though.

VW Golf Driven Through Water

Not a Capri question, but I'd rather ask for advice here than anywhere else - VW Golf 2002, driven through a large puddle/flood of water, seen too late to slow down, must have been 10 or 12 inches deep. As soon as the car left the puddle there was a loss of power and judders, especially at low revs....

Re: Ebay- "Click and Collect" at Argos

A lot of online sellers do this kind of thing. For example, you can order something from Amazon, and have it delivered to your local newsagent or shop, who hold it for you until you collect.

Much less risky to use decent suppliers rather than ebay for service parts surely? Such as the Capri Club, Tickover, local car shop, etc.

Have you looked into the possibility that it could be the wheels/tyres. If not, perhaps try swapping the wheels over, front left to back right, or whatever, etc.
