Re: Underbody clean up - 2021 recommendations
Hi, I've got a similar query, and its similar enough not to start a new thread. Had some sill replaced a few years ago and a localised paint up over the top. Easy to blow in as it was all below the lovely big rubbing strips. Now this paint is flaking off (see pic) in fact you can see the spray job w...

Re: Esso Fuel - No Ethanol
Hello and I must say I read this and got excited. Capri got used yesterday and as it was pretty much empty I thought I would take opportunity to brim it with this ethanol free stuff. I noticed at the Esso station though that even the Supreme+99 has an "E5" sticker on the pump, suggesting i...

Re: Poor Driving.
Can't for the life of me work out what that megane in the first one was trying to do, unless they'd overtaken that other car and were giving them an extremely wide berth. Similar thing happened to me in town centre Monday night approaching junction with a car going straight across (on its own) towar...

Re: I'm back......
Nice work. I really really wanted to get one of these as our "normal" car to replace our Mini (which was cool but just too small for general family use). Problem was my wife thinks Mustang just a smidge too long for suburban faffing and parking, and she has a point. So we bought a BMW M140...

I have a weird recollection of him painting it with satin black paint.
It was one the kids were watching a few weeks ago on youtube or amazon or something. Be interesting to see if I was right!

Re: Which Wheeler Dealers Episode?
Please could someone identify a Wheeler Dealers episode for me. I cannot remember the car, but it involved Ed China repairing a windscreen scuttle area, which was heavily rusted/perforated, without adding a new piece of metal in, instead he just kept adding weld to the area, then when all ground do...

Re: Capri Parts Sources ( links )
Parts source tip for 2.8i fan thermo viscous coupling. Ordered the replacement from the club, price £46 plus VAT plus courier (oof). What I got delivered is a Land Rover 200TDi viscous coupling by Britpart, Land Rover part number ETC7238. Not got a problem with the source of the part, but you can sa...

Brut Capri looks cool. Have an old Scalextric 3.0S in red, and a Zakspeed by Fly. That would go well with them.

whiff of Granada or Cortina about it from here. Nice colour though whatever it is, sort of colour that would suit a lot of modern cars if everyone weren't so obsessed with dark shade metallics at the moment.

Re: 2.8i heads wanted
Heh! no need to be too sorry, its had a good run and 160k ain't bad. I did speak to Tickover, but they are no longer taking workshop jobs on, due to backlog I believe. I understand they use Car Clinic in Lancashire to do their head work, so after talking to Car Clinic I will be doing the same. There...

2.8i heads wanted
Hi, Low compression on one cylinder and exhaust valve that keeps closing its tappet up, so need to have heads off for work, after 160,000 miles seems the valve seat recession has finally got it. Will take opportunity to have heads unleaded converted, and as this will mean sending heads away for work...

Re: Bonnet Scoop/Vents
If the scoop or vent needs to actually function and deliver air into the engine bay, then yes significant holes will need to be made in the bonnet - so any video suggesting that would be correct to my mind.

Re: Brand new 2.8 V6
I was thinking it looked a bit pricey, but I then went on Burton Power website and made up a basket of parts to rebuild a cologne, i.e. new pistons, rings, bearings, cam, followers, rocker shafts, oil pump, gaskets, head bolts, exhaust valves etc and before I knew it I was looking at £1582. Given th...

Re: Rear ARB bush orientation
Yeah the thicker end of the bush that sticks out more goes against the chassis, i.e. pointing outwards as it were.
Should be 4 washers too that go one either side of the bush to spread the load across the insert and the poly material.

(Diannes)fuckin poxy dog chundered them up on the roadside LOL. i can imagine the stink! Whitebait are popular here, individually battered, deep fried and served in a big pile. Can be a bit of fish overload and indigestion trigger for me, so probably takes a couple of years before I fancy it again.
