Re: Megasquirt

I'm about to start wiring up my ms3 & ms3x, I'm using 8x BIP373's to drive the 8 COP's for a fully sequential setup. Not looking forward to mapping it all !

Re: Essex Engine Number Location

Normally it's 2 letters & 5 numbers, 1st usually being a '0' like in my pic below 'AL 07354' So yours is 'NK 3859' but as it's badly stamped and the '0' missing maybe it's been decked at some point, and that top face machined as well so the inlet manifold sits correctly then re-stamped (did the ...

Re: whats missing from my essex v6 inlet manifold ?

As Peter says its the take off for the servo connection, the other elbow is the outlet for the heater as it looks like you have an early Zodiac oval port manifold with manual choke. This needs a plug if using auto choke, you then need a smaller 1/4 bsp elbow for the servo port, these can be got off ...

Re: Simon Race's Old Car for sale.....

Yes thats the 2nd owner since I had it, still looks exactly the same, I'm guessing it probably still has the uprated 'Type 9' not a Cosworth T5, also has Megajolt not Emerald, but could be wrong. Only thing I removed before selling was the RS 4-spoke steering wheel as I bought it new in 1986 from Fo...

Re: Moveing/altering steering columes

I did similar to above with couplings, also moved the column where it passes through bulkhead, in the process doing away with the rubber gromit/bush and making a nylon bush for better location. I see you have PAS, but with a manual rack putting wedged spacers under the mounting to crossmember can al...

Re: mg 75 v8 , anyone had a go at it yet?

Thats a good pic for showing the shear size of the Modular against the 302  Mine went in without too much hassle, the regs don't allow me to mod the bulkhead or inner wings. Just had to move the steering column a bit to clear the standard cast manifolds, just need to find some room for long t...

Re: mg 75 v8 , anyone had a go at it yet?

Hi everybody, as Jamie mentions I'm currently putting a 32V Cobra Modular in the race car, current pic.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v412/Sarnie/32v.jpg The version used in the Rover's is the SOHC Modular, think it only makes around 260bhp, not much good unless you put a supercharger on it. ...

Re: 302 V8 into Laser

Hi Dave, Peter, not posted on here in ages, I'm currently putting a 5.0 Ford V8 in the race car although I don't think it's quite the one you mean. It's the 32V Cobra, fills the bay up nicely :) and being all ally no heavier than the Essex, will be running on 8x T/B's........ http://img.photobucket....

A short lived return to racing then Simon?
Hi Peter, yeah didn't go quite to plan, shame, I was in 2nd place when the engine tightened, the leader dropped out on the same lap

So brought forward the plan to change a V8 and have a play in Classic Thunder.

Re: v6 essex cylinder heads

Burton's probably did the heads, I used the same size valves, which Burton's fitted along with hardened exhaust seats, I then spent a couple of weeks working on the ports as they were way too small for what I wanted. As Stock mentions, remove valves and look very closely for hairline cracks between ...

Re: Does the little foam spoiler on Capris actually do anything?

The S spoiler reduces rear end lift (also improves drag), not enough to turn it into positive downforce, for that you need the Turbo Tail. Here's a link to a previous post on some testing I did on the Turbo Tail.......... http://www.fordcapriforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4059&start=0&...
