Re: What would the most expensive capri be?
That would be one of the Works Cologne cars which I guess would be around £250k now.

Looks like the positioning of the 'S' stripes wasn't done to a very high standard either.

Yes will be a straight swap, all UK 2.0 Capri's used a 3.44 Atlas, Manual, Auto, GL, S, Ghia all the same.

Re: Mk3 Track/Race Car Build
Hi Will Not been in Classic Ford and only ever had the Weber IDS's on the 24V, it was in Retro Ford around 10 years ago. Initially I ran it with a 'Type 5' 4-speed box but was hard work at motorway speeds with the 3.75 diff so I fitted an uprated 'Type 9' which I built out of a late version and a 4x...

Re: Mk3 Track/Race Car Build
Sounds like your making good progress, shame about somebody beating you to the Jag V8, how about a Maserati V6 for something different (hate to think what the price of parts are though), I was tempted after driving a Ghibli and a Ghibli Cup and having a good sniff around under the bonnets, but ended...

Re: Capri Fun for BTCC driver Adam Morgan
Looks like another original Grp.1 car from Ric Wood's stables will be coming out to play soon... https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1979-ford-capri-grp-1 As for the Essex making 300bhp, very nice though Ric's alloy downdraught heads are (remember him showing me the prototypes over 20 years ago) the...

Re: The worst night of my life
In the pic it looks like you have a crease (red circle), if so this is going to be your biggest problem as the strut tower will have moved backwards. It will either need pulling out on a jig or use the complete inner wing from the shell you've just acquired if you want to save your shell, which does...

Re: capri wheels
Nice racer there, quadcam. 16's do look fine, but I'd guess even they are not easy to find these days,,,although track tyres may be easier! Cheers 347 V8, and yours especially as you started with a 'rust bucket' lovely job, mine was only a road car for 3 years so never seen rust, just lots of panel...

Re: Carbon fiber parts.
Not too bad to make once the mold is done, same as fiberglass only not as messy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v412/Sarnie/Trumpets_zpsmsmqyh3i.jpg I have started it, and run it for a bit, but not for too long at home as it's a bit noisy with the side exit.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...

Re: Rear axle/differential running temperatures
Agree with Stew you should be fine with a finned alloy cover like the Gartrac item or the increased capacity one. I have fitted a larger capacity one on mine (not run yet) to help cope with the V8, also added an axle brace which has the bonus of increasing capacity further. Previously I've only been...

Here is the pic that was in the above post, which was just the door card... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v412/Sarnie/carbon%20card_zpsrbawjvwl.jpg The only pic I can find of the RS front spoiler is this which doesn't show anything other than it's shiny :) Think it only lasted a couple of races....

Re: Mk3 Track/Race Car Build
Here's a pic of the RS Motorsport Spoiler with a splitter added, the splitter was just made from ali sheet and I was only allowed 2" max. A splitter actually works better if thicker and with a radius'd leading edge, so my next one will be made from 12mm marine ply. I've got threw a few RS spoil...

Re: Mk3 Track/Race Car Build
The real way of testing aero is the same for any mods, on track. The stopwatch never lies, and you'll soon know if you've gone in the wrong direction and unbalanced the car at three figure speeds  The Turbo Tail and Motorsport front spoiler definitely work, I did some testing with them back in ...

Re: Mk3 Track/Race Car Build
Liking the mods you've got planned there, look forward to following the build and seeing the pics. What have you got planned for the aero, to keep it nailed to the track ? Guess it depends if you want to go as quick as possible or have more fun with no downforce. I also quite fancy doing the odd Cla...

Re: 2.8 Cologne .. can it be quick?
Was there ever a competition version of the cologne motor? : The best Cologne based race engine was the Weslake from the early 70's for 'Group 2' racing which made around 320bhp, to see what this would cost in today's money look here, it would certainly impress at the Vintage Grand Prix :D ... http...
