Re: Suspension / Brake options for Cstom Capri MkI project;
Hi Andrew Yes it was the Slick 50 Road Saloons, a hugely successful series back then. Full grids at every meeting, Class A was nearly all Rovers and Capris. Although I've gone quicker in other series as the car got more and more modified, I've never had as much fun as I did in the Road Saloons. I di...

Re: Suspension / Brake options for Cstom Capri MkI project;
Thanks for the comments Will, Rob & Paul :) Glad to hear your on the mend Will, nothing wrong with a 302, especially with alloy heads, so many parts to choose from and make good power. If / when I do Knockhill and Croft again I'll be sure to let you know, both great circuits. Will post some pics...

Re: Burton power Steel cologne camgear.
I get what you mean now, tunnel boring means line boring! That makes sense if they have shaved too much out of the block. I hadn't looked at the picture of the block with the girdle on it! I would have thought they would have centred it using the block as a datum though, not the girdle. Most materi...

Re: Burton power Steel cologne camgear.
A crank regrind wouldn't change anything, but as Stroker says when the girdle is fitted the main bearing housings would be line bored which would remove material from the block and close up the center line between the crank and cam. I've had this done without problems, but maybe they removed too muc...

Re: Suspension / Brake options for Cstom Capri MkI project;
Most conversions I've seen use the Sierra (Merkur to you I guess) rear, which wasn't great from day 1. Have seen some conversions on the net using Jap front and rear assemblies, I just converted mine over the winter to BMW, not seen or heard of any others. Of course using BMW running gear opens up a...

Re: Question about Granadas..
Haha yes Dave but a win at Wimbledon Dog Track doesn't have quite the same ring to it as the Escort winning the 'Monte Carlo Rally' or the RS2600's coming 1st, 2nd & 3rd at the '24 Heures de Spa Francorchamps'
But yes agree prices will go up, just won't see a £50k Granada anytime soon.

Re: Question about Granadas..
Think leather was also standard on the Ghia X 'Executive' which was only available as a saloon. I had a 2.8i Ghia X Estate between 1992 -98, was a great towing barge, even 5-up and all the tools and spares, some more torque would have been nice though. I did once in the interests of research reach a...

Re: 3.0s. On eBay
The orange one definitely seems to be late 4-cyl shell, no strengthening as mentioned already, also a rear tow hook and seatbelt sliders bolted to inner sills never appeared on a 3.0S. Engine maybe sourced from a non 'S' as accelerator bracket has an auto kick down bracket, dizzy has wrong vacuum po...

Re: Heritage " Ford Capri Mk1 Facelift 3000GT Resto/Mod
OH, no problem then. To more spesific about my cam gear question. In my old engine I use plastic camgear "fiber" gear. But next engine have double valve springs. So I think original cam gear won't be able to survive anymore. USA cologne engines seem to use alloy cam gear, but i read somew...

Re: Modified or Standard?
It's all down to taste. If you ever saw Simons modded 3.0 Ghia with the smoothed engine bay etc but still with green cloth you couldn't vote otherwise. 8-) Thanks, yes it still had a standard Ghia interior, although it was in proper 70's 'Huggy Bear' brown :lol: Would love to see more pics includin...

Re: Modified or Standard?
Voted modified as that's what I have now, but I've had lots of both over 35 years of Capri ownership ( some were still standard when I sold them :shock: ) so I like both and can appreciate both. If I was to have a standard one now I think I would have a Mk3 1.6S looks as good as a 3.0S and rarer, an...
