To be honest the connections shouldn't really need any additional sealant etc. if they are tightened up enough

Re: Cutting out when hot
At first my car would restart after cutting out but it then progressed to not starting up at all until half hour or so had passed, I got so pissed off with the fact it would never bloody do it outside my house that I parked the car up and left it alone for a few days then one night I went out there ...

Re: Automatic Gearbox - Oil usage
Come to think of it after I changed the autobox in my Capri last year it developed a leak from the autobox that looked like it was coming from the small sump on the bottom of the box, so I bought a new filter and gasket and changed both, but guess what the leak was still there, turned out to be my f...

Re: Automatic Gearbox - Oil usage
Year's ago my mum had a Mk 5 Cortina with a 2 litre pinto and auto box, it to was using/losing ATF but there were no visible leaks, it turned out to be the vacuum modulator on the side of the gearbox, a vacuum line run's from the modulator to a small connection on the intake manifold, if the seal i...

Re: Advice on tyre sizes
You could have a play with this tyre size calculator to find tyres that have the same rolling radius (circumference) as your current tyres. https://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator/ :goodluck: Andrew. Thanks for this Andrew, I have measured the distance from the edge of the rim to the strut ...

Re: 3.0 Ghia - Problems
I have one on my Rover engine . That's the thing with Holley's.....they might not be the best carb but they are easy to get tuned "about right" and thusly most peeps see an easy performance gain and the carb comes up a winner. Holley's have replaced a lot of Rochester and carter carbs and...

Re: 3.0 Ghia - Problems
I love carbs, the more I study them the more I love them! The amount of development and invention involved in creating these must have been massive. The mechanics are fascinating and ingenious. And there is a sense to them, you can understand what does what and why a car behaves a certain way when ...

Re: 3.0 Ghia - Problems
Hi Olly, It isn't an inlet or outlet of any type, on the older Weber 38 dgas the mixture screw sits recessed inside that little tube, it should have an identical tube on the other side as well, the later carbs had screws with a spring on them and no tube so were easily visible and if need be could b...

Re: 3.0 Ghia - Problems
No worries mate, but in my opinion get that oil pressure gauge connected up ASAP I'm not saying that the gauge is the most accurate in the world but it is a good indicator of impending trouble. Also have you fitted a fuel pressure regulator as too much fuel pressure will overcome the float/needle va...

Re: 3.0 Ghia - Problems
Did anyone else notice the oil pressure gauge showing zero pressure, from my experience the gauge needle move's even at cranking speed let alone at idle speed or has it been disconnected?

It's not you, the country is fucked, PC, race card, feminists and numerous other things that get banded about. The media also like to jump on the bandwagon and whip up a frenzy over what is in reality not even worth the airtime. None of these protesters do their causes any good in the way they cond...

Hi mate, I have a 3 litre Ghia and over the years have encountered the same problems as you, for the fuel pump issue you must careful when installing the pump as it is possible to install it in such a way that the long fuel pump actuator arm misses the actuator cam that sits on the front of the timi...
