Re: why?

I'll ignore the cyclists should pay road tax (which was abolished many years ago), as for the argument about being registered, how about getting the cars right and policed first, before jumping on a tiny, tiny, almost insignificant cycling population. I cycle most places, typically between 5000 - 90...

Re: Dunton 01/09/2019

Great pictures, and up until the end I was getting worried about my rather ratty Laser being out of place at Brooklands, now I don't feel so bad.

Re: Dunton 01/09/2019

So that's why there was only a single Capri at the Walton Bridge meet this morning :D
Looks like a decent turnout, hopefully Brooklands will be a good show too

Is the plan a Laser forum convoy then? If nobody minds I'll try the extra 3 miles to join you, it will mean going past Brooklands of course..

Re: Dunton on Sunday - are you coming?

It's too far for me unfortunately and I'm otherwise engaged now dropping an engine hoist to a mate to remove a somewhat smashed V8 from a Stag. I'll be doing Brooklands though as it's only round the corner and I reckon the old girl will make it that far..

Re: Laser 1600

More money today  Aside from the NSF tyre which is a reasonably new Dunlop, the tyres are all cracked and 1 was worn smooth on the inside, so I've been looking at tyre options and prices over the last week or so. My local man can get the 185/70/R13 tyres in at similar prices to the internet, bu...

Re: Shocks - Normal Vs Gas

People assume gas shocks are filled with gas rather than oil, in reality `gas` means the oil is pressurised with nitrogen to stop the oil foaming under heavy use. I imagine for normal usage you`ll not see any benefit. You can still get different ratings. softer or stiffer than O.E. Thyis video expl...

Shocks - Normal Vs Gas

One of my front shocks is leaking, and assuming it gets through the MOT in September it will be on the list of things to replace during the strip/rebuild. I'm not overly interested in performance, so adjustable gas shocks are probably a waste of time, but I note that Tickover supply both 'normal' an...

Re: Whining Noise

Propshaft bearing seems solid, I can't get any play in it side to side. As above, small amount of backlash into the diff. THere won`t necessarily be play as such, bearing races can make horrible scraping, humming noises without any perceptible play. Only way is to take it out and roll it in your ha...

Coming along nicely.
A notice you've fitted Silentcoat (or similar), did you strip the original stuff or just go over the top?

Re: Whining Noise

Yeah , I was going to say are you sure it's the car ( we have jokes about that sort of thing here ) :xd: Most likely either the diff pinion bearings or the tail shaft / layshaft bearings. A whine usually implies a bit of speed involved and wheels turn slow so their bearings usually rumble. I bought...

Re: Whining Noise

Well that's learnt me nowt. Both rear wheels are solid, tiny bit of backlash across the diff but I suspect that's normal. Propshaft bearing seems solid, I can't get any play in it side to side. As above, small amount of backlash into the diff. Gearbox seeps oil out of fill hole with car level (that'...

Whining Noise

Debz (as she's now known) was pressed into action this morning for the dump run, the old shower screen won't fit in Festa and I'm not allowed to take the van to the dump. Anyway, today was her longest run at 15 miles round trip. I noted a 'whining' noise most of the time we were moving but couldn't ...

Crikey that makes me feel old, I remember binge watching Bond films (on VHS) when I was supposed to be in college. I'm loving the Capri now. Another short run out today since the spare kept going flat so I took it to my friendly local tyre man. Super chap we found on the local trading estate a coupl...

Slotmags, best wheels ever. I'm intrigued by them being 14's mind, are they from a Scimitar?
