Re: fuel pump
Brand spanking new tank. And did it with the old one that had turned into a teabag. I think that will be ok. But I’ll try owt once!
Re: fuel pump
Well both of them don’t work so good then might be worth trying another new pump I suppose. Wasn’t a cheapo no make neither, ah well, some you win, some you lose.
fuel pump
Does anyone know if the pinto mechanical fuel pump should have non return valves in it? I swapped to a shiny new one during the rebuilding as a matter of course because old shrivelled pump diaphragms aren't a wise idea but it seems to bleed the fuel back to the tank now. I don't recall having issues...

Re: Using Metal Weld On Diff Cover?
Only problem you may encounter with the such products is it’s not very keen sticking to anything remotely oily or dirty. Because the oil is leaking from inside chances are it will still be able to seep out as you glue it up so you might have a ‘mare getting it to seal the leak up so you’d have to ma...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
Why thank you all, I was quite pleased to have made it this far, I wasn't planning on doing it but what with the "unknown virus of unexplained origin" I had the time and it stopped me going more crackers than I am. Just imagine how much better it would have been if I knew what I was doing!...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
Now, where was I? Ah yes. The arch......what happens once we weld in the new metal? Zinc primer everything. Obviously needs filler and someone with the talent to make it pretty but..metal is in. Good enough. Looks Capri shaped to me. If I squint. 20200912_165553small.jpg Now to move backwards... It ...

Re: Loads of parts for sale! And a Shell!
Don’t suppose there are any body side mouldings? Or a drivers side laser seat in good shape? I’d very much like those if anyone has such items.

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
Once I'd recovered what tattered shreds of my sanity remained I had to make a call. Fight, or buy bonds. Turn it in as someone else's project (part complete lockdown project, might make the money back I've spent on the parts?) or go down swinging with a hacked up ruin fit for scrap. Well, I had noth...

Re: Not starting.
Sounds obvious and I’m not taking the rip, but if you’ve been working on the dizzy have you pulled any leads and put them on out of order? Or clipped the cap on frack to bunt? It’s easy in the hubbub to lose track and end up getting them out of whack then spending hours looking for the fault. Not th...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
So the left hand side, passenger floor and snout are all made of metal. Clearly victory is nigh! I've defeated the evil tin worm and its minions of doom. Down the pub for a pint...oh wait, this was mid lock down 2020. Down the garden with a tin of special brew. But I'll just check the other side.......

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
Well, everything north of the windscreen is positively rock solid after what turned into a couple or 3 lockdown months of hitting steel with a whacky stick and using the old metal glue gun to smoosh it together. It is therefore with much confidence that I can peek underneath and not be remotely trou...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
Now we have some strength restored to the car after the last installment I'm feeling brave enough to jack up this corner...JOY! So I can now attach the 2nd wing (more JOY!) 20200530_114419small.jpg 20200530_120032small.jpg This wing is a much worse fit than the drivers side, all kinds of issues gett...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
Now where was I...oh yes, foetal position, sobbing... so out with the whizzy wheel and let see how deep this rabbit hole goes :? 20200518_151254small.jpg It appears that there's....no inner sill, no left floor, no right floor, no floor bung and not a huge amount over the chassis rail. So that's gone...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback
now...where was I? Ah yes! After choppy choppy comes the buildy buildy again... 20200508_125942small.jpg then the frilly valance edges need a little bit of manufacturing... 20200508_152432small.jpg which means it mostly has a snout. Re: Bumper Bolts
They were from Amazon, I was in the middle of lockdown so I just had them sent to me and it was much cheaper than using the ones from the Capri club. They look just like the ones I took off, but not snapped and rusty. Lick of satin black sorted the silver finish. And finding something the same size ...

Re: Bumper Bolts
That’s what I did, just used coach bolts. The “coach” square part was too big to fit the bumper hole but I filed it down to fit so it held in snug and tightened up. Painted satin black and they look just like the O/E. I had no issue with the bolt head size, it was the same as the O/E ones.
