Re: Low Miles 2.0 Laser

Yes the 1800 Miler at long last :D Andy, Thanks for posting the link on the other thread. I didn't want to respond to it there for fear of sabotaging the seller's chances of achieving his desired sale price. However, this thread is a different matter entirely! Firstly, the car looks fine, but with ...

Re: CCI Nationals Day

Hi, Wouldn't it be great if we all met up at the BP station at M5 J9? John and Nick, you could go on the M40, then on to the A40 to Cheltenham, and finally on the A4019 onto the M5 north. That won't be too much of a detour from John's original route. What do you think guys? The Laser Pagers can make...

Re: CCI Nationals Day

Hi Nick,
Just a thought, but if you're going via the M4, and heading north up the A417 from Swindon to the M5, do you want to meet up for a Convoy around the Gloucester area? :woot:

All the best,
Andrew.

Re: my first car...

Hi Nick, Great photo of the Escort. You must have done more miles on that one trip than you did in the whole of last year in your Capri! :) I remember driving all the way to St. Ives (the one in Cornwall) in my Vauxhall Chevette, not long after passing my test. The car made it back too......on the b...

Re: Squeaking with right turn ?

Hi Toby, New steering racks can be bought from loads of places. You local motor factor can probably order in a Delco-Remy reconditioned rack on an exchange basis. Failing that, there is Eurocarparts ,currently showing as out of stock, but again your local branch can probably order one in. http://www...

Re: WANTED Steering rack mk 3

Hi Toby, Try Martin at Caprigear. If not, there's always Tickover, Capri Club, Burton Power. You can also try Eurocarparts. The rack is currently showing as out of stock, but your local branch will be able to order one in. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ford_Capri_2.0_1986/p/car-parts/suspension-...

Re: So when it's finished who do I need to notify about what?

When I asked about mine they told me transmission is recorded as part of the model and could not be changed - i.e. my car is down as a "Ford Capri Laser 2.0 3 Door Automatic" or something. I can no more change it to "manual" than I could change it to "Capri Perana"etc ...

Hi John, Thanks for sharing these terrific photos of what looks like an amazing show. Some of the Capris in the show look familiar from Brooklands, but none of them are a patch on that wonderful lacquer red 2.8 with the deep shine! Perhaps Turtle Wax is like a fine wine that gets better with age? :D...

Hi,
I haven't tried them myself, but this place might be able to supply a reconditioned item on an exchange basis.

Hi, I've suffered form the problem Peter describes with some TRE's I bought from Ebay (I think they were branded Firstline). As Peter says, the thread is the same and they are identical to look at, but the thread does not go deep enough to allow the ends to be turned enough times to bring the wheels...

Always interested in anything from any of my multitude of heroes. Righto, I'll let you know if I hear anything else that may be of interest. Johnnie Walker's show always has interviews with a personality from the 70's, so it may be worth checking the Radio 2 website every now and again for details....

Hi Ronan,
Personally, I would go stainless because they sound better and last longer than a mild steel system. Just go for a relatively small bore tailpipe that won't be too much of a departure from the standard look.

Hi,
I doubt it, judging by your list you haven't made any modifications that would significantly affect premiums.
Try calling Coops for a quote when your policy is due for renewal.
