Re: Accelerator Pump

Yes but .... kind of, my problem was that, standing in a hot garage for over a week the fuel had evaporated out of the float chamber - so I was injecting 20ml through the air cleaner & into the floatchamber, NOT the choke (There`s a little area behind the chokes where you can look down into the ...

Re: Accelerator Pump

Why does it have a jet on both sides though, if only one side squirts? ] I`d guess because the same casting will be used on other carbs where the secondary IS also squirted, maybe the DGAS ??? The one off the 3.0litre where the throttles open together.... As for your problem starting, I`m afraid it...

Re: Rev Counter

When you say it reads low, do you mean it`s steady, not flicking about, but it`s obviously not correct value? If so, and the fuel & temp gauges are stable and accurate (ruling out V reg) then it sounds more like the unit itself could be faulty. I find if the points are a bit grubby I`ll get the ...

Re: Accelerator Pump

It does only squirt into the primary choke. The main reason to depress gas pedal is so that the choke flaps can close, but the squirt of extra petrol will also help enrichen the mixture.

Re: Nitros in a 1.6 a good idea?

nitrous oxide is basically air (N + O2) in liquid form which you can `squirt` in rather than needing to `breath` - but you also need to put in extra petrol as well or it`ll burn holes in your pistons.

Re: Under door rubber trims

I`m sure they`re not standard, the only thing I can think is that they were done as part of an aftermarket rust-proofing such as Ziebart, to spray wax into cavity? The door is sealed entirely by the rubber strip around the aperture. How many holes and what diameter?

Re: Ebay Capri - You have to see this

So, just for clarity: Then it suddenly gets worse and worse until it dies. It is then impossible to run until warm without the foot planted on the accelerator with zero choke. Even then it runs lumpy as hell as if misfiring all over the place." You would describe that as`flawless` running would...

Re: Ebay Capri - You have to see this

That new Capri bought at 12G WILL last longer (chassis wise) than any focus at the same price. . Nobody loves Capris more than me, but that is just ridiculous, modern car`s rustproofing is light years ahead of the `70s. It was quite normal for wings to be perforating after 5 years, you won`t see a ...

Re: Waterless Coolant

http://www.waterlessenginecoolant.com/ It`s not flammable, but it is quite expensive. Problem is you have to remove ALL water from system (which means draining then refilling with their `scavenging` hygroscopic fluid, which costs I think £29ish) then £60 per 5L coolant, but if you spring a leak or h...

I'm not a rich man basher, if they do earn their keep, Me neither, but sometimes it`s just so blatantly arrogant and...just incredible. I mean `we all have to tighten our belts`. We have libraries staffed by volunteers, hospitals supported by charity events, army numbers cut, police numbers cut. Me...

Our `Leaders`

I see MPs are awarding themselves, sorry - being awarded by an independent review panel, an 11% pay rise. So it seems we really are all in it together, but some are more in it together than others.

Re: MK3 capri leaf spring bolt size? help please

Well the crush tube in centre of the bush is 2.6" so allowing 1/8" each side for the metal it fits within, gives 2.85, add another 1" for a nut would give you 3.85" ?? edit: Just looked at capriWiki where they have the microfiched parts catalogue, and according to that it`s 6.10&...
