Re: Walton Bridge Breakfast Club

Always looks to be a good meet, drove by the last one in the van with Capri bits in and a great variety seen. Given it's only about 5 miles away I should make the effort, but that would mean not taking the Laser off the road and fixing it. And giving the government more money to keep it taxed.... Ma...

Re: Heater

The heater box has a small radiator in it which is supplied with hot water from the engine. It's not uncommon for this to block up. Under the bonnet, just below the brake servo/master cylinder are 2 x 15mm ish diameter hoses, if you have an auto-choke you can follow one of them to the carb. A few th...

Re: Wet Running Today

She's tucked up in the garage now, before the real rain came in this afternoon. I was expecting a fail which would have made the decision to take it off the road over the Winter really easy, but now I can use it, I kinda want to  Tax runs out at the end of the month so maybe I should get it SOR...

Re: Wet Running Today

Had a nice 12 mile drive before dropping off at the garage this morning. Shame it's so wet out there, I had water in the passenger footwell, one bit of welding I know about already, and the reason the carpets are out. A good blast down the A30 and then 45 minutes sat chatting with my fingers crossed...

Re: Hand clutch

Can you not have a steering wheel mounted clutch? F1 have been using them for years and pretty sure they are a more standard fit in the mobility world than one mounted on the gear stick (though that does seem a far more logical place to put it). Failing that, a V8 coupled to a slightly more modern s...

Re: Wet Running Today

I'm glad I went out, was only popping to Screwfix and then collecting my daughter from a sleepover, but got at least 3 headlight flashes and waves, made a rather damp cyclist smile and the usual 'My Dad used to have on of them' from the 40-something Mums on pickup duty (that's 40 years old +, not th...

Wet Running Today

Well after a good few months of keeping her nice and dry, we went out in the wet for the first time today. Not raining, just wet, so avoided all the big puddles. Wasn't on the plan, but it's MOT day tomorrow and it's going to be raining anyway, so figured a test of everything today was best. Tomorro...

Re: Engine Swap - Pinto 1600 to Pinto 2000

. I still have a hankering for a V8..... I have a rover v8 going in mine , weighs less than the pinto engine , and not so stupidly powerful that I have to worry about the diff /gearbox ect ( probly a lsd ). Happy to share ideas :D Funny, I was thinking 3.5 Rover V8, it's light and not too torquey. ...

Re: Mot time

Good luck.

Mines booked in Monday morning. Can't say I'm feeling confident, but then she's coming off the road at the end of the month and I get to start welding.

Re: Door Lock: Removal and Reassembly

For the slightly more 'squeaky' amongst us (ok, tight then..), and I include myself in this. Rather than go buying graphite lubricant, simply scrub a lead pencil over sandpaper and use the resulting powder, it's the same stuff, but FREE :D Where do you nick your pencils from then :D I'm a regular i...

Re: Factory Original But Not Right?

Well the expansion vessel has to be there as it won't fit in the standard position with the bike carbs (not sure which model came out of the factory with those..). Also looks like it's had some work beyond changing wings looking at the slam panel, and whoever sprayed it couldn't be arsed to mask off...

Re: Engine Swap - Pinto 1600 to Pinto 2000

Can anybody advise a source for a flywheel? I'm not sure what the standard size is, though I think it's 215mm (8.5" in old money)? Not sure if I should go for a 2nd hand cast or fork out for a steel one which all seem to be lightened?

Re: Engine Swap - Pinto 1600 to Pinto 2000

Two people can easily lift a pinto....rope around it as if you're using a hoist, fence post or similar through the rope and one person either end of the post. And fit the 2.0...the specs given for the 1600 are accurate with those simple mods....ask Dan about the one I built for him....but as far as...
