I recently had an issue with one of my tail lights not working, and one of the number plate lights. I unscrewed the number plate light holder and it fixed the tail light problem - don't ask me how though

Might be worth trying?

The stripes do look sweet, I've not seen many over here with stripes on and Daisy's looks great with them - really suits the car and colour

I have a similar issue - I'm pretty sure it's the auto choke and carb and needs a rebuild... Have you rebuilt/reconditioned your carb at all? It does make you wonder who buys these cars... It looks like a very nice example, but how could you not know the lights are on upside down? Let alone the fact that it's obviously not a late Mk2 when it looks completely different to the year before
