Tacho is doing strange things
<t>My tacho has suddenly stopped working aboove 3000rpm. The needle just stops dead. At tickover it is above 1000 and not measuring the engine speed correctly either. In between it seems to be responding normally. When I switch off the engine the needle takes quite a while to slowly drop to zero....

They can produce high quality T-shirts and coffee mugs using an image of your Capri. All you have to do is sup...

Water coming in from a very strange place
<t>All of a sudden I am getting water coming in at the rear of the car. It appears to be entering the cabin from around the rear plastic handle located in the roof lining. The water is splashing down onto the rear passenger seat and getting the occupant wet. I can't see anything obvious but was w...

My Recaro seat has broken
<t>My half leather drivers seat has just broke. It looks like a bolt has sheared (it is the one that scews into the seat bottom on the side of the seat and is located behind the black plastic trim cover). Has anyone else had this problem and if so how do you get the broken stud out and is it possi...

Correct Temperature sender information
If you have any other Capri (1.6, 2.0 Pinto, Essex 3.0 V6, or the older KENT engines) then the correct sender is no. 1701341 which is colour coded WHITE / CLEAR. When fitted and working correctly the gauge should be bang in the middle at normal operating temperatures.

<t>it's a load of old tosh and I should know - I've got a Phd in Chemistry. If you are going to keep the car then get the valve seats fitted. To save money take the head off yourself and dismantle it. It really is a lot easier than you think as long as a) you keep all the bits safe and b) you can...

I bought a brand new screen last year
<t>for 50 from Silvershield in St. Ives (CAMBS). It was the proper tinted one as well. Fitting it was not too easy and you need some help, preferably from someone who has done it before. Don't fit a S/H one as the glass gets very scratched over time but most people just don't notice it until they...

I have had them replaced in the past
<t>True it is much easier to replace them with the head off but I had mine replaced by a garage about three years ago and it cost about 70 + VAT. The garage used a special tool to compress the spring and remove the valve collet without removing the cylinder head. With the right equipment it actual...

Squealing fan motor
<t>My heater fan has started to squeal and it is most noticable on the slow speed setting especially when driving around corners. Is there an easy way to lubricate the motor without pulling the front of the car to bits, or does it sound more serious? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.<br/>...

Adjusting the boot lock
<t>My Capri boot has suddenly started to become very difficult to shut and engage the catch. I literally have to slam it very hard before it will shut. The lock has been oiled and the actual locking part works fine once the boot has actually shut. So is there any easy way to check and adjust the ...

You should also replace the cam followers as well
<t>It is quite a lot of effort to remove and replace the cam and it is highly adviseable to replace at least the cam followers as well as they will have serious wear on them by now. The cam kits usually have the whole lot: springs & ball joints and you need to consider new springs if it is a se...

It is often the front windscreen believe it or not
<t>The front screen is only sealed using the rubber gasket which gets hard with age. The water gets in and flows down the back of the dash to the footwells where is ususally collects at the back. If you purchase a tube of 'rain and gutter sealant' with on of those gun applicators you can inject it...

I've had this problem too
<t>I'm not convinced that K&Ns work well in cold weather. The choke gets too disrupted. So I always take mine off about now and put the old air box back on for about three months. I did this last week and all the cols starting problems disappeared. The K&N seems to work fine in the warme...

Mobile phone interference in Capri radios
<t>Does anyone else experience strange morse code type bleeps from their Capri radio every time a mobile phone is being signalled nearby? I know that is what is the cause because if I rest my mobile in the ash tray below the radio it starts making noises about three seconds before the phone rings. ...

You should get a new one
as it is a bit risky fitting a s/h screen. You can buy them from Silvershield (in Needingworth near St Ives) and they cost about 50. I did this and got someone to fit it for me. They aren't very easy to fit either so make sure you find someone who knows what they are doing!

It's in todays edition of the Sun newspaper
there is an article and photo about the new capri which is to be displayed at Geneva Motor show. It's not called a Capri at the moment but it is expected that Ford will resurrect the name at the time of launch.
