Re: Starter to coil
Thanks for that Steve. So, when the starter is cranking it supplies the coil with power, when it stops cranking it stops providing power and the coil has it's own (lower) voltage power from the ignition system to keep the car running. Would that be the case. Also, where does the twin green cable pus...

Starter to coil
Hi everyone. My question is this . On the 2.0Ltr Laser does the black and yellow wire from the starter to the coil ( both push on rubber headed plugs ) do just that, go from the starter to the coil, or is there another feed joined to it somewhere in the loom. The coil can't just get it's power from ...

Re: Automatic loom
I just thought ,that wouldnt work would it because joining the two small wires is to activate the relay in the first place ! To lose the relay entirely ( which is what I want to do ) is joining the in/out wires to the relay the way to go and just tape off the other two.

Re: Automatic loom
Now that's a good idea ! But would that mean leaving the relay visible ? To hide it could i join the two power wires ( in and out ) within the loom and then re-route the two smaller wires to a hidden switch ?

Re: Automatic loom
Or do i just join the black going in to the relay to the red going out of it and leave it at that as i think the other 2 small cables to the relay come from the inhibitor which isn't needed.

Automatic loom
Well, here was i thinking it would be a simple case of re routing ! I'm converting from auto to manual and still using the auto loom. I unwrapped the loom to put the starter wires to the other side of the engine where the starter is on a manual and found that the black spade connector cable ( which ...

Automatic starter motor
Hi all, just a quick one. Which side of the engine is the starter motor on an automatic Capri ? Were converting ours to a manual from a pile of parts and the loom suggests the starter was on the drivers side, but on the manual it's on the passenger side. It's no problem as i can re-route the cables ...

Re: Autodata manual
Hi again. Well, i have two mk2 Haynes manuals, one with and one without the Mk 3 update. I was looking at the one without. ! The one with the update is a lot more helpful ( but not sure if specific ) but will only know when i sit down and go through it. Watch this space. Thanks all, Steve.

Re: Autodata manual
Hi everyone . Thanks for the help. Don't think I'll bother with the Autodata manual until I can see one in the flesh. The link to the fuses was great and much simpler as said. The project is converting from auto to manual (from a big box of bits ) and was wondering where the neutral start cut off th...

Autodata manual
Hi everyone. Does any one know if the Autodata manual for the Mk 3 Capri contains a wiring diagram that would be suitable or a Mk 3 Laser ( 2.0 ) before I buy one as ive only got the Haynes for the Mk 2 and doesn't seem to be compatable. And would anyone have a wiring diagram for a Laser if it hasn'...

Petrol Tank Straps
Hello. I have recently made a batch of petrol tank straps as mine were rotten. I'm a metal worker so they are very good copies (if i say so myself ) and heavier gauge than originals . What you get from anywhere else are after market anyway unless NOS and made by somebody like me but are dearer . £30...

Re: Wanted Fuel Tank Strap . NOS
Hi sam. I have recently made a load of tank straps as I wanted a set for myself ( I'm a sheet metal worker ) heavy duty and same as original. £25 pair. I'm in Derbyshire if your interested or could post . Steve.

Re: Capri Wiki parts page.
Just tried fordopedia for the first time and it looks good but can't see a specific Capri page. The wiki parts was a great reference for location of stuff and also bolt length/thread size etc. Wonder where it's gone .

Capri Wiki parts page.
Hello everyone. Does anyone know why the Capri Wiki page for the Capri has stopped working. I can get on it but the exploded view pictures don't appear any more with all the part numbers. This was very useful. Maybe just my computer or some thing but i tried it on my sons and it doesn't work on ther...
