Re: 1984 Ford Capri MkIII 2.1

Looks good, only advice is get rid of the fuel pressure gauge from the engine bay. Those things are really fragile and when they break they allow fuel to spray out and cause a massive fire hazard. Seen plenty of these gauges breaking. You only need to fit to set it up and then check periodically. Gr...

Re: Floor outrigger/stiffener

buy from cci Capri Club International, think they cost me £20 roughly a few years back and well put together, not worth the effort trying to make them

Re: 1986 Mk3 Capri

Looks like its gonna be fun, i just come out the other end of lots of Capri welding and rust removal. The mad thing is i know in future i will need to do things again. but i just want to be able to enjoy until then. The x-pack always look good, good luck with the build. I wouldn't be worried about u...

Re: 2.8 Shell Project

Its funny but the length of my jig and shell fitted doesn't fit in the garage so i cut the legs down so i could fit it in.
It works though :)

Re: 2.8 Shell Project

Once you get it, go out and buy some box section which matches the roll over jig and make up a frame that holds front and rear jigs together and then buy some castors. Prob cost about £40-50 but then you can wheel it around. We have a shell roller aswell in another garage for holding an old Jag, doe...

Re: Jump Starter Devices

These new ones have LiPo batteris which are very smalland powerful. We do alot of RC models with planes and cars and boats etc and the 3s LiPo we use in small rc planes are enough to jump start a car battery! But i have never bought or used one of these. Interesting because Lidl are selling one for ...

Re: Mk3 Shell Weight & Sodablasting

I can tell you that a complete bare shell is 240kg ish! This is because i scrapped a bare shell at local metal scrap merchants and they weighed the shell. Sorry that included a empty fuel tank(which i wish i kept!) Btw it can be lifted with 2 people and a engine hoist, but 4 people makes it alot eas...

Re: Wanted roll cage cash waiting

It is a good cage and well worth the wait. Are you fitting it yourself? You will need to make up spreader plates when it arrives so it is Scuitineer friendly. You could use the ones supplied, but they may be questioned at any race as they are on the minimum size. I bought 3mm sheet and made my own w...

Re: Outter sill replacement

When i did mine i cut the old sill off in sections to try and keep from brutally removing too much material. Around the rear quarter area there is a small panel that sits in behind the quarter and should attach to inner structure of car(hope i described that ok!) If you remove the inner panels you c...

Re: Wanted roll cage cash waiting

Good to know there is someone else in Dumfries making a Capri with rollcage!! ;)
Although i just got mine from Safety Devices. It cost a bit and i had to wait a long while, but it looks good in the car.

Re: Mk3 Track/Race Car Build - Picture Heavy NOW!

8 inch spring i think and 400lb up front may have to find some soft helper springs to run underneath these to prevent coil being loose when jacked up see link https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/s/coilover-springs/faulkners-race-springs/helper-springs Then for rear i have single leafs springs and rea...

Inspired choice of intercooler location! GOing to be interesting to get a good bit of airflow to it there. Hav you considered running a water cooled intercooler?

Re: Mk3 Track/Race Car Build - Picture Heavy NOW!

Had a few other issues. Making excuses now, but my son had a 2nd Birthday and i built a climbing frame in garden, plus i had to redo the garden for my wife for birthday party. It was not sensible to spend alot time in garage i'm afraid. Also my wife has me doing new bathroom now and we have had issu...

Re: 2.8 Shell Project

I bought a rollover jig from rolloverjigs.com I bought the heavy duty version and have had mine mounted for some time. It was nowhere near £1000! Think mine was £260 as we also have E-Types for resto and we bough self levelling kit on top. Best money i spent soo far on the resto. worth its weight in...

Re: Sound deadener for the floor pan

You can get the stick opn pads which you can cut to size. THis is more like the stuff the car comes with. You can soften it up with heat gun to let it lay properly. We fitted this to a Jaguar E-Type and it helps tremendously. Although in my Capri i have removed all of it. Think it came to 11kg in th...

Re: measure ride height

You can buy decambered springs which mean they are lower as they have less curve in them. This is a better way to lower a car because you don't need to use lowering blocks. Lowering blocks space the axle away from the leaf, but this actually means there is more chance that you get axle winding up as...
