Re: 3.0 Ghia - Problems

Sadly the 3 litre Essex is the Capri engine that I know least about. Is the fuel filter original and does this sit between the original mechanical fuel pump and the carb ? Does the car have a separate fuel return pipe back from the carb to the tank ? Have you tried driving the car a short distance w...

  No it's not a "gif" chaps. Just a fixed picture but looks well cool. Those moving "gif" things eat up the battery power. Mind you this Huawei has a very impressive battery compared to the Samsung I have had. I wouldnt be surprised, Ive just had a look at the battery ...

Re: 1.6 pinto blocks and heads and heads and blocks

I was thinking of something uprated such as a Felpro or Cometic head gasket from Burton Power - but Ive just realised the cost of the latter. Ive always had good results with Victor Reinz gaskets which are sensibly priced and Im sure the CCI one will be a good quality standard gasket too. it might b...

Interesting to see te Laser was mainly for the UK market. Did they carry on with the LS, S and Ghia for longer in the other markets ?

Re: 1.6 pinto blocks and heads and heads and blocks

I would go: 1.6 Emax block with 1.6 non Emax head. Use a bog standard 2.0 camshaft (but with a vernier sprocket so you can adjust it absolutely spot on). Use a quality head gasket because you will have slightly higher than standard compression. You will need the 2.0/Emax cambelt as the one for the e...

Re: heard it all now....

Very AC/DC- though the last I saw AC/DC live Axl Rose was covering vocal duties in place of Brian Johnson. So more like AC/D... Their support act Rival Sons was well chosen though and have become increasingly well known since. A new band id very much like to see live one day is Greta van Fleet. very...

Re: heard it all now....

Listening to them now. Excellent. Great to see the late Lemmy in the video. I bumped into him once in the Marquee club in Wardour Street, he'd just turned up to watch a band with everyone else, was happy to chat to everyone and went home on the tube.

70's Glam Rock and Hard rock, Early 80's (NWOBHM especially) I feel lucky to have experienced that music :guitar: Stick with what I know, and if/when something new and interesting comes along then all good. Not holding my breath though. I couldnt agree more. Every now and then I keep trying to bran...

+1 for that Aldi compressor. excellent value. I got one on recommendation I'd seen on here and though ive not used it for painting any panels as yet I have given it some fairly heavy use spraying lots of damp/ woodworm treatment on a house i was doing up. A really good compressor. About 20 years ago...

Re: Axle fitting

Well, Martin said it wasnt a difficult job and he was right. -loosen wheel nuts on both rear wheels -Jack the car up and put strong axle stands under a suitable position on the body -Move the trolley jack to just under the diff, dont actually lift it, just let it very slightly take up the weight of ...

A nice car. Forgot how light and airy the Sierra cabin was. I can never understand why they replaced it with the fwd Mondeo really. Ford could have just kept evolving the Sierra and kept a serious foot in rwd territory.
