Re: 2.8 oil recommendations
I use a 20/50 semi synth racing oil in mine. 10/40 is good for the cold as its not as thick and warms up quickly providing better protection.
The older cast iron engines prefer Mineral oils usually.

Re: Alternator / electrical gremlins?
Some alternators can self excite meaning with a engine load/speed they will start to output voltage charge to the battery. Our alternators can do this but to work correctly they require a 12v signal from the car through your igintion light and grounds on the alternator lighting up when the engine is...

Everyone has their own preference. Some do it when the engine is hot as it will give you the correct manu...

That or you might have a leaky brake servo. Do the revs rise when you put your foot on the brake at idle?

Re: Sheared exhaust studs (2.8i)
Easiest way i have managed to get studs out before was with the heads off and clamp the stud as close to the head in a vice really tight!!!
Then use the head as leverage to undo the stud!

Re: Coilovers
225 to 250lb 8in springs might be a good start
That is the good for the 2.8i V6 engine weight and works well on the road but you will feel the bumps.
Plus is a bit more helpful than the above posts. Its trial and error but help from others is always good.

Re: converting 1.6 to efi
I would assume the fuelling issue can be adjust by using an adjustable regulator and lowering the fuel pressure a fraction. The airflow characteristics should be very similar to the 2.0 engine. 1.6 does have smaller inlet valves tho but a change in fuel pressure (lowering a fraction) will reduce the...
