Re: Project Carla 820

OK people - so the next flourish of work. So these are the clips that go under the door sill trim and keep the loom tidily against the seam weld along the bottom door sill. As you can see, the 3 clips on the right side are the best of the lot. In fact, of the 5 along each door ledge, 2 had completel...

Re: Saxty's Capri Scrapbook

Fantastic! I didn't realise we had resident people on here who had one! They really are a tool! Keep hold of that, whatever you do! That is only going one way in price - even as a box of bits and failed items as well. :) They were really Ford's only answer to the Autobahnstormers that Opel / Vauxhal...

Re: Saxty's Capri Scrapbook

The Cosworth Granada Scorpio & Scorpio range. Very under-rated motor. When it was launched in 1990/91, with standard fit 16" alloys, they were enormous wheels for the day. Today, anything smaller than 17" wheel size is considered small. Strange how that evolves through time. The wheels...

Re: Saxty's Capri Scrapbook

What fantastic pictures Steve. Thanks for posting these up. As you say, if these ever got lost or hidden away, they would be lost forever. I delved into that Ford Germany museum for a look around at your pictures. I wonder what we could ferret out of there for September ? Probably nowt...........

Re: Capri 500 Prototype

Lastly for a version that never was...if production continued to 1989, a 24v Cosworth version; Yes, it would have been a nice thought to have one of these. But it was waaayy out of budget. The 2.9i went electronic - electrics that without a whole redesign was way beyond the Capri Mk3's capabilities...

Brand New Capri bits brought back

OK people, small acorns at the moment, but some success. I have been working with one guy to have some cable tidy clips being brought back onto the market. It's looking like a success. Really pleased with this. Not really about what the item is, as it is only "boring" old cable clips. It's...

Re: RS2800 Prototype

I will be very interested to see sales figures for the MK8 Fiesta ST and MK4 Focus ST vs their respective predecessors. The MK4 Focus is yet to grow on me, and I personally think Ford have dropped the ball styling wise but that’s not the point.... We now have the visually similar ST-Line range, whi...

Re: Dark or light blue Ford badges?

OK.... Ford logos. The blue ovals we have on our cars change through time, with Ford re-inventing the badge. It is not a vehicle generation time stamp. It is a logo time stamp. That means that the shade and the size (although the latter is often kept for generation change) will adapt through the mod...

Re: RS2800 Prototype

You are right Steve. It probably would have worked. But as we both know from our industry - if you go out there too bold, you are just mortgaging future issues down the track ? If, as a manufacturer, you are too lame, people criticise you for being bland. It is getting that balance right - and (sorr...

Re: RS2800 Prototype

I think as Steve says it's the colour combos both externally but more internally and the solidity of the car. Compared to the MK1 'E' I just think it looks and feels a better product and of its time more contemporary. Its all subjective I suppose. On the subject of strip lights do the MK1 Escort an...

Re: RS2800 Prototype

Not sure that it answers the reason as to why the Ghia on the Capri is the finest ever of that trim line, Mark, but it was the 1st model in the Ford line to sport that trim line. The top trim of all of the other Ford models was the "E" when the Ghia badge was being placed on the Mk2. There...

Re: 2.8 rotor arm

Mine is limited to 4500rpm. Nearly placed myself through the windscreen after I was revving the motor out, having replaced it 5 years ago from the conventional limited version I had in there previously. Thought there was something wrong with the motor, as in it was losing power at high rpm. B...

Re: Refurbished DashBoards

Hi people. Some bad news. They have not been able to cover Mark's dashboard to a satisfactory standard that they would wish to market. At least they are being honest and not trying to sell us some dodgy / poor quality covering that will do. That's the only consolation. If they are not comfortable wi...

Re: Hub redrilling

As in to create a different stud pattern, you want to place extra holes in the hub ? I would think you need to be careful there. Obviously speak with someone who knows their salt on this - but to me, placing a further 2, 3, 4 extra holes, with all/some of the originals having the studs removed weake...

Re: Who Remembers?

Ha ha - that's a good one!!. The times I had to walk/catch the coach to school in the 1980s when snowing and snowdrifts. It seemed that all vehicles were off the road yet our coach always made it through! How did that happen ? And when you arrived, there were so many kids and teachers there, they se...

Jason - I am not sure I am following your understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong. So the T charge in central London from April 2019, if you like, in the yellow. From Oct 2021, it extends to the light green. This is the north and south circular perimeter. Are there any Capri restorers within ...

Re: SEP 1, 2019 @ DUNTON, FORD – THE EVENT YOU ALWAYS PROMISED YOURSELF

Thanks for the interest and comments people. You all have to make up your own minds on this one. :) I can only sell this event as much as I can. You’ve got to take the plunge where you see fit. But before you do that, just hold it in the balance for the moment. I recognise the challenge of this bein...

Re: SEP 1, 2019 @ DUNTON, FORD – THE EVENT YOU ALWAYS PROMISED YOURSELF

Today, January 21, 2019, is 50 years to the day when the 1st European Ford Coupé, the Capri, was born when it was shown to the press in the West Germany capital city, Bonn, for the first time. It was sporting, it was revolutionary and it set the world alight. Given the significance of this, Ford hav...

Re: New Shiny bits being created & made for the Capri

Thanks for your comments. The effort is there, for sure. I'll pile in lots of effort to ensure we can still run these motors way into the future. As I come across parts that are obsolete or difficult to get as new, I'll ask some questions and knock on some doors. But the measure is getting these thi...
