Re: Jobs on a car that were easier than expected and jobs that were harder than expected
It`s ironic because all this complexity is so that you can just press a button rather than having the onerous task of pulling a lever. See - it`s making life easier.... ;) Hehe, irony is a good term for it all! High tech is a great selling point, as people swoon at the thought of it all. You can im...

Re: Laser + GL and now a 3.0S!
We are all so busy, that's all I ever seem to hear these days, with everything! Longer lead times for stuff, longer on hold times when you phone someone, longer waiting times when you need something. Was at the dentist recently and a guy come in with a problem, he was told there's a wait of around a...

Re: Jobs on a car that were easier than expected and jobs that were harder than expected
The modern human form seems obsessed with making everything as complicated as possible, with a focus and obsession on tech. A lot of this though, is anything but 'smart'.

Re: Did this man forget to take his brain medicine?
How bizarre? This kind of thing is a real problem though, as you get people who may have one, has a look on ebay (people tend to ignore all the lower prices for some reason), and instantly think they have parts worth a fortune.

Those are super pics of the car. If you should have a front-angled view (similar to the rear-angled one) please post it!

I love this thread, it's giving me a nice list of cars to avoid and never wish to own!

Re: Jobs on a car that were easier than expected and jobs that were harder than expected
Nightmare hehe Every time I do a job on any car I just expect this. I've found that using impact wrenches does make things far easier with even the most rusted up and knackered fixings coming off without much of a fight.

Re: First drive in an MG
There's far too much reliance on these tech gizmos. They prevent people from actually driving a car. And as such common sense disappears.

Re: First drive in an MG
SUV are not for me! Had the converstion with the Mrs recently there is nothing new today that we would want to own. So will be keeping the 2012 1.6 Focus Zetec petrol that does well over 40mpg on a run and is pretty good around town etc. It's old enough not have alot of tech crap you dont need and ...

Re: Capri Assembly Line
A good friend who is a mechanic reckons on most book times to add at least 33% it in the real world. Obviously not on the simpler stuff but jobs like engine or clutch change are ridiculous in a lot of cases. As you say a snapped bolt and can take an age, he reckons they use a new vehicle with a mec...

Re: Capri Assembly Line
So you swapped an engine over in a few hours on a Sunday ready for Monday, that's brilliant. As you say, modern cars are a whole different thing. I often wonder about those book times you mention and how tight they are. They must assume that everything is straightforward and comes off without issue ...

Love stories like that, swapping an engine over on a Saturday afternoon on a driveway. That's brilliant Jason.
