Could be wrong but I'm sure I read that the Capri Club now sell reproduction fittings also.

On one of the write ups on fitting the voltage regulators, it was mentioned that you can fit them using a small nut and bolt instead of soldering.

Re: Do you get wheel wobble on your Capri?

...I can't live with wheel weights wrecking the look of the wheels! I think that looks are only secondary, the way the car drives and having it work properly are the most important things. I think I shall have my new wheels re-balanced, with the weights on the outside, as my old wheels were, with t...

Re: How "cheeky" do you get?

I know a guy who will ask for anything, and everything. Buying a light fitting in a shop for example, he will ask for a pack of bulbs to go with it. Buying a selection of magazines in a newsagent, he will ask for a discounted price. Any work done on his car, he will never, ever, accept the first pri...

That wasn't really what I was getting at Chris. Bumpers do have a practical use, as well as giving the Capri 'that' look.

Re: Do you get wheel wobble on your Capri?

I never had a wheel wobble at all, at any speed, motorway driving included. Then, changed the front wheels for some new (old) ones in better condition. New tyres too (which came from the old wheels). Tyres fitted professionally and balancing weights fitted on the inside, on the old wheels they were ...

Re: Taking bumpers etc off?

Always looks like there is something missing to me, when a bumper is off. Seems to spoil the classic Capri look. Doesn't seem very practical either, driving around with no bumpers, always thought they were there for a reason!

Open windows affects fuel economy, as you have drag inside the car then, as well as the outside.

There does seem to be different versions of them. I know that when I changed mine, the first one I tried was slightly different in design and it didn't work, fitted another which looked just the same as the old one and that's been fine.

It didn't matter to me as I use another stereo, just kept that in place for authenticity. Therefore I never looked into fixing it too much. Though I did always think that it was the cassette drive belt.

There must be a thousand channels showing a million programmes, available to us all. And you're watching 60 Minute Makeover?!

I'd rather hack off my own head using an action man sized teaspoon.

Re: Rear Bump Stops

Just to conclude this, fitted them using an adhesive which my local car shop recommended. It dries to a silicone sealant type consistency. And comes in that type of applicator also. Cleaned the plates up, Jenolite-ed them, then just squidged this stuff on and pushed the stops into place. Thanks for ...

Re: Cassette Player Issues

Another problem now. I switch the radio on...the light comes on and it fires up for about a sec then cuts out. Try again...same thing. Pop the cassette out and push it back in. Turn the radio on and it starts and plays fine. Mine used to do just the same at times. Never did get to the bottom of it ...

Ford Capri Books

Like most on here I guess, I have a fair few Capri books. But here are a couple of old ones (love the older books, written in such a fantastic non pc way, before the world went insane), which I have picked up at shows recently. Anyone seen these before? http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1/pbar/Ford...

Re: replace or rebuild auto box? advise.

I guess that the advantage of having one rebuilt is that it will be close to new again, and should last for years. Whereas it's a gamble buying another one as it's impossible to know how good/bad it is, so you could end up changing it again.

The insulating tape used to wrap the wirings in engine compartment keeping everything in order- is this just standard insulating tape... It isn't no. You can get specific loom tape. I have wrapped (small sections) using normal electrical tape, it sometimes doesn't last long, loosens and leaves a st...
