2.8i going very cheap....
<t>A bloke I know is selling a very early (X reg) 2.8i. It's up for 500 but he'll take considerably less. It's got a decent interior, altough the drivers seat is a bit tatty, and theres no cracks on the dash.<br/> The body work's not bad, again just a bit tatty. The rear arches are the only bits bad...

Re: Something I found when tidying out my garage...
I've been a couple of times and don't recognise the membership secretary's name, so it's probably a few years old. Can't be anymore helpful I'm afraid. What Capri do you drive? If you're in the North-East I might have seen you,
Mark.

Re: would like some advice upon
<t>Hi John. Firstly, I'm no expert but I think the existing jet set-up will work fine on a 1600 pinto, it might however be a bit thirsty. The 32/36 carb off a 2.0 with it's original jets works, so I don't see any reason why this should'nt.<br/> I would think that it would be easier to change the car...

Hi Tim....
<t>It's great to hear from you, thought you'd gone for good! You will probably remember I bought that laquer red Laser off you. Well, I dont have a capri for sale although the Laser's off the road as i'm going to build a new engine for it. I'll keep my eyes and ears open and e-mail you if I see a go...

I had the same problem....
<t>with my old Laser. It seems to be a common problem even when the brakes are in good condition. Try using low dust pads that seems to help. RS 4-spokes are particularly good at catching brake dust as the standard wheels on my 1.6 LS don't really get dirty at all. Good luck, <br/> Mark.</t>

Made some enquiries....
<t>and it appears there are between 2500 and 3000 Capris on the road today. Thats not a very big number!<br/> I live in a town of 40,000 people and, excluding my own, there are 5 or 6 capris.<br/> It's true that Mk2 Escorts are thinner on the ground, but only because nobody bothered with them when t...

Banger racing - some thoughts...
<t>I know this has been discussed before, but I thought I'd give some new input.<br/> Recently, I have started using a garage whose owner races capris. We inevitably got talking and he suprised me with a few points. Firstly, many of the Capris raced, not only by him, are in very good condition. He s...
1.6 carbs
<t>Could anybody suggest a good performance carb for the 1.6 pinto. I have a 32/36 weber I could fit but fancy being different/awkward(?) At present the car's fitted with a weber vv replacement which won't do...<br/> I'm prepared to change a few parts so a good carb will fit, suggestions?<br/> Thanx...

Maybe, but...
The bloke I bought it off said the dials etc. were
new(ish) so it could have been a bit more accurate.
Can't remember the RPM, but it was well over 5000 I think. One day I'll get it back on the road and see...

My old 1600
<t>I have an old Laser (off road at minute) that was pretty quick. The only obvious mod was a 32/36 weber but it would manage 120 in 5th without any fuss. I'm sure it wasn't flat out either but I didn't want to break anything...<br/> My 1.6 LS 4-speed goes pretty well but I miss the extra gear on th...

Mk III light problem
<t>Having some problems with my '84 1.6LS. A while back I noticed that when I braked, the rear nearside brakelight wasn't coming on but the offside headlight was (on dipped beam.) The other day I noticed that there are two screws in the boot on each side behind the light clusters. one on the near si...

Unusual tailgate question....
Does anybody know how to transport a mk3 tailgate in a mk3 Capri?
I've got a spare one at my uni flat and need to get it 30 miles home.
If anybody has done this, let me know how!
Cheers, Mark.

<t>It's getting ridiculous. I havn't even bought this months because I get sick of seeing what are basically the same cars. Also, it would be nice to see more original spec cars, as it is full of modded and race machines. Of course, as a Capri owner/enthusiast, I'm biased, but apparently not as much...

If it's standard, it should be a Weber 32/36.

Re: My Cars...
<t>Looks like a good shell, and I love the 'S'- you're lucky to have such a late one in black.<br/> As for the 'L', how many of them do you see knocking about? I saw a lovely dark blue one in Darlington last year, but nobody seems to bother with the base models. It would be nice to see it fully rest...
