Re: MOT Exemption

Select your post office wisely. Some don't deal with it, you'd need to find a crown office not a sub office, and another one I went to didn't know what vehicle excise duty was!

Re: Cover or storage?

Only the royal borough of K&c. (Not the posh bit) In the same breath, I'm waiting to hear back from my housing association about the underground garage that I live on top of, but they won't get back to be until the new year. Yeah I agree with you on the walk time. Suppose I'm just questioning t...

Re: Cover or storage?

Which council area are you in? I rent a garage which is expensive, but luckily 2 minutes from my flat. It's quite fancy as it's an underground parking area with garages off it, so a decent space, with heating from the flats above. But a 15 minute walk will probably be annoying after aa while and tem...

Re: Interesting.....

I like* the fact that they are so happy about the fact there's an original Motorcraft fire extinguisher in the boot. Personally I'd rather have my Screwfix one I bought a couple of years ago than a 40 year old one of dubious performance if the worst should happen!

Re: radio knobs

Haha... "Radio Knobs, 88 to 91 fm.." 88-91 FM is without doubt the best station out there! Andrew. My radio has only two stations programmed - R2 and R4! R4 for the news and serious documentaries and the shipping forecast (don't ask), R2 the rest of the time (sounds of the 80s being a per...

I was out and about earlier today just for a short loop around the suburbs. Nick got about three messages from his colleagues about a Capri seen in the area!!

Re: Haynes Manual

The orange Ford manual has been reprinted by someone - I got a copy for £15 online a few years ago.
It is printed two sheets to a side of paper though, so whilst readable for reference, it's not set out for bedtime leisure reading!

Re: New Member - and message for Brooksy

We haven't met Margaret but I've just read the article posted, and what a lovely tale! There must not be many Capris on the road now which are still on their first keeper.

It also shows how welcoming this crowd is to newcomers, irrespective of their background.

Re: Prolblem with my Capri 2.0 pinto

If I could throw in another thing - and sorry if this is teaching granny to suck eggs - change only one part at a time so you can eliminate for sure where the fault is/was. It's incredibly frustrating with faults like this but fortunately our cars are not complicated and hopefully you'll get it sort...

Re: Shocking news!

I travel by public transport in London every day - there is little risk of getting anything from sitting on a seat, as seats are at a premium!! Many are quite grotty though. Dried in chewing gum etc all over.

Re: Breakdown Cover

Well, I finally got around to doing the dance with the nice man from the AA. He did say that as I've only been with them for 3 consecutive years, I wouldn't be entitled to the same sort of loyalty discount that long-term members would get. However, a 16.66% discount was definitely worth five minute...

I know you've fitted a fresh condenser, but I read a similar thread a while ago where a new condenser was faulty - many newer parts being of inferior quality - and failed when hot.

Can I add my thanks to the organisers. I have been involved in organising events for a number of years and know just how much work is involved, and the expectations just increase (insurance, h&s etc before you even get into logistics!). So a big thanks to those who do it, for nothing, for everyo...

Re: Finally my first ever Capri! 1987 2.8i Special

There are a number of specialist suppliers, Capri Gear for example, who can source most parts that you may not be able to get from factors etc.

I know the square root of naff all about 2.8s but worth checking for vac leaks, had a similar issue myself in the past and this was it.
