Re: What was the difference

The 2.8 shell is basically the same as the 3.0S except that the battery tray was moved to the right hand side of the engine bay. Not all S models had a sunroof either, it was quite a pricey option at the time.

Today I passed the 1000 posts mark and it's probably time I became a Donator. Please can anyone tell me how to do this bearing in mind that I don't use Paypal or most other forms of modern technology. Re: capri 1.6GL bareshell rebuild

Both of those are sound ideas but I would just fit a twin choke 32/36 weber and inlet manifold as fitted to 2 litre models. If fitted with a 2 litre camshaft and a four branch exhaust manifold this combination should put it up to 85 -90 bhp which isn't far behind a 2 litre. It may need a rolling ro...

The early ones, 81 - 83 had the 4 speed box. Quite a few people prefer the 4 speed ones.

Rocking Horse :turd: I want to find a set to fit a vinyl on my 3.0S when it's done but like you've found they're hellish to find these days.

Re: Restoration of Underside of 2.8 capri - terminology

Could anyone advise how the old outriggers are to be removed and the new ones pit on please? They are spot welded to the floor and the chassis rail. You will have to clean all the underseal and seam sealer off then drill out the spot welds, trying to only drill through the old out rigger and not th...

It's NOT a jacking point, it's a floor stiffener or outrigger as Martin said in his post. The one in the OP's picture is a bit mangled due to having been jacked on it.

Re: hello New here

:welcome: G'day mate, looks a great car in the picture and the bits you need are quite easy to get and if you need them plenty of the Capri specialists on here will mail to Australia. Not sure about the house paint on it though but it seems to work! Where abouts in Perth are you? I know it really we...

Re: Fuel pump

For an ordinary standard Pinto 1.6/2.0 litre Tickover car parts list a new pump at £22.00 plus VAT and you may do even better from one of the other known Capri specialists like Martin at CapriGear.

As a last resort ebay do them, I got a new unused old stock QH brand one for a fiver off it!

Re: Ford Capri MK3 Parts For Sale

I'd be interested in the bonnet, rear springs and Mk3 rear bumper. Where are you located? Thanks for your time in replying but I can't get hold of a van easily or cheaply and don't relly want to travel that far with an expensive bonnet on a roof rack. I'll have to pass but I'm sure Colin or someone...

At that point I told her to basically go f*@k herself and said I've tried to be nice and honest with you, but I've had enough and I'm going to do exactly what you didn't want me to do and contact my insurance. Anyway after all that waiting 8 months I got the cheque for the repair come through today...

Re: lights??

Relay is the square box under the bonnet screwed to the bulkhead, just above where the dipstick is.

Check your headlight earths are Ok before touching the relay as well as the fuses including those in the relay.
