yeah , thats hard to know what bit of their history counts the most . We had a guy here who donated millions to the musical arts , got school buildings built, paid for and named after him , quite the hero ............turns out he is a sexual predator , the old story , one person speaks up loud enou...

Re: Misfiring when flooring it from idle - 2l Laser

I Must admit I've never checked the valve clearances on this car as I never knew how, looks straight forward enough to adjust though. I've rebuilt a carb before so pretty confident changing all that stuff. If you`re goingto rebuild the carb, so I`m guessing removing it - adjust the valves before yo...

Re: Misfiring when flooring it from idle - 2l Laser

I had similar symptoms last year. Valve clearances made a massive difference, definitely check and set them if you haven't already. Cleaning up the carb was the next thing, the accelerator pump in the carb made a massive difference as well. We replaced quite a few parts on the carb in the field at C...

Re: insurance

Probably because it works out cheaper to pay £3k than get fisted by the insurance company by claiming! Lose all or at least half your no claims, increased cost of insurance because of that as well as needing to declare it as a claim for the next 5 years - would likely pay more than £3k in increased ...

Re: Copper grease - Yay or nay

Of course they are rusty ..... they are cast iron.........and on the edges  . I wouldnt replace them for that ( if its rust they dont like give em a wizz with a wire brush :D ) . Hell , one of my Ducatis had cast discs and they rusted so quickly that after washing the bike I had to blow dry ...

Re: insurance

Although the cost of EV repairs undoubtedly affects premiums, your `standard` cars now have such ridiculous and unnecessary tech: cameras instead of mirrors, radar, sensors, everything having its own microprocessor - and now they proudly announce a car with no rear window! Why have a window when yo...

Re: insurance

Thank you Sir  When I take out an insurance policy I give my personal details (as we all do) I don't have to give details of everyone else in the country, therefore if I don't claim I shouldn't be affected by anyone elses claim. But we all know it has never worked like that, but sure you see ...

Re: insurance

I'm sure under this age or over that age is a factor to the cost, so unless you hit the age sweetspot :spank: The old, putting other drivers on your policy that will never drive the car to bring down costs can't be right either. It seems honesty will cost you more  What happened to the days wh...

Re: Copper grease - Yay or nay

Re: insurance

That`s disgusting for 2 reasons, not only `cos they robbed you, but also because you have to declare when seeking insurance if you`ve `ever been declined or had cancelled`, so that could affect your rating with other insurers. I was thinking the same when I read Danny's comment. Do you think that L...

Re: Copper grease - Yay or nay

Will bear this all in mind when I eventually get time to do it! Is the car you were asking about actually in use? If the pads do need changing, I would put this job at the top of your priority list... Andrew. Yes but only once a week and the MOT man said the pads had a thousand miles left in them a...

Re: Copper grease - Yay or nay

Just remember guys that Copperslip is an anti-seize compound and not a lubricant. I always brush it on the edges of the pad backing plates where they contact the caliper or its mount to stop the pads rusting into the sliders. Thanks Paul, read somewhere that it was good for the piston as well... ??

Re: Copper grease - Yay or nay

Did the smart thing and covered the whole disc with it, loosened the wheel nuts as well to stop the frost setting in overnight so will slap more grease on there before tightening, will make sure I stick some on the radiator cap, brake servo cap and expansion tank to stop them getting stuck as well ...
