Re: Fitting under bonnet pad
Christ!
Back in the day I used to just tear that padding off! All it did was make the cars overheat and you could hear the engine better as a result.
Times change!

Atlas diff rebuild
Hi everyone. Unfortunately after a lot of expense in the last 2 years to try and solve the transmission judder on my 2.8 (new flywheel, 3 new clutches, a complete gearbox rebuild professionally done, prop bearing and new doughnut bush) it appears the problem is still there. I have also where availab...

That's hilarious! Good on him for mocking the ridiculous price situation we find ourselves in.

Re: Should have known better.
Sadly a sign of the times re aftermarket capri parts I'm afraid. I now apply the following rule to all aftermarket parts - Buy cheap, buy twice unless you know the right OE brands like SKF for bearings etc. It is very hard not to have to pay more if you don't want to do the job twice. Do your resear...

Re: Mk3 pinto oil pressor pipe snapped!
Hi, Its a pretty easy job to do, take the lower dash panels out, take the front seat out for easier access on your back. When you look up behind the instrument cluster you'll see the pipe easy enough. The pipe has a union on the end of it which bolts into the back of the oil pressure gauge, it requi...

Re: Metering head kit
Bit dependant on how long they've been in there. The o seals round them can get stuck with age. I've damaged a couple getting them out. Always clean up the ports they sit once removed and fit new o seals every time. Theoretically though they are easy enough. From memory you'll need some weird size s...

Re: Under bonnet pad ?
Bloody hell!
I've torn that off every single one of mine. All I found it did was attract mice! I must admit they look cleaner to me without but no doubt I'll live to regret that soon as the prices carry on rising!

Re: Metering head kit
Hi. I've rebuilt mine recently using the kit sold on eBay. I would suggest you check the plunger moves freely first. In fact as you lift the unit off its mounts it should be free enough to drop out (providing you've undone all the unions first. ) Another thing to check is the pressure regulator isn'...

Did it come with the square terminals?
Seems a rare thing these days, I don't like fitting adapters as it just looks odd!!

2k for Tickover is way too fast!
750-850 more like.
Unlikely to be the battery based on what you describe.
I'd start with the simple things first. Is the timing correct?

Re: Problems fitting a type 9 gearbox into a 2.8
Thanks for the replies. Mike did you loosen the engine mounts at all? I had to rock the engine a bit when I took the box out in order for the bellhousing to clear the tunnel. Like I said it doesn't need much. I didn't realise you could jack on the front crank pulley, I assume it doesn't bend anythin...

Problems fitting a type 9 gearbox into a 2.8
Hello all I've just had my type 9 rebuilt and am trying to refit it into the car (2.8i) Using two trolley jacks I am coming extreme close to lining everything up however the input shaft is unable to get inside the fingers of the clutch pressure plate due to the top of the bell housing hitting the tu...
