Re: Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Andrew... you've not missed too much :). Get some pics of your cars up in their current state. I keep thinking of that one you had wedged in next to the house with no room to move either side :xd:

I'm sure one of the breakers will have one in that they only want a few quid for. Try CapriGear, JohnoCapriMan and Tickover.

Re: GUNS GUNS GUNS

When I was at school my mate's brother shot a guy in the side of the head with an air rifle and he lost the sight in one eye. Thing is, he didn't actually mean to shoot him. He was in his back garden shooting targets and the pellets went through the hedge and there was a public footpath on the other...

Re: Ebay X-Pack

Don't know anything about that car specifically, but the price seems high, also I'm pretty sure the 3.0S isn't supposed to have headlight washers, so it might actually be a converted 3.0 Ghia, unless the washers and tank were retrofitted which is also possible.

Hey, I vote for the 302, much cooler and way more cheap tuning parts available. Here's a potential donor car: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1979-MERCURY-CAPRI-5-0-RUNNING-DRIVING-RESTO-FOX-BODY-MUSTANG-302-4v-/230924739714?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item35c42fe482 Sadly it has an auto box but the engine...

Re: is my capri mad now ?

It's been a while since I played with timing on a pinto but I think the big mark is every 2 degrees, so you car is probably at 8 degrees, rather than 16. Remember to disconnect and block the vacuum advance hose on the dizzy when checking/setting timing, and remember to reconnect it after. Most peopl...

Good work! Get it all put back together and take it to a good rolling road to get it set up right. Then let us know what you are making in terms of power and economy :)

Re: What to do when hope is lost?

Don't let it get you down! Imagine you'd spent something like 8k on a newish car. The bumper and windscreen would still have happened and cost a lot more to fix. Mechanical problems could still happen and would be much harder and more expensive and more time consuming to fix. You'll get there. It's ...

Too small for a Capri, it would look lost in the Capri's cavernous engine bay :xd:

Re: Lets talk sunroofs. And rust. And crying.

Mine still needs doing, it's a job for sometime in the future :). My thoughts on your situation are, the affected area seems quite small. I think you should try your first idea of cutting out the rusty bits and welding in new steel. Maybe even something like a cutting disc on a dremel is what you ne...

Re: Oscilloscope

I think you're asking on the wrong forum! :D :xd: As you just want to see the waveform coming from the VR sensor and you don't really need anything which is properly calibrated (the main expense of owning an oscilloscope), something like this is probably your best bet: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Ch...

Re: Just a few quick questions!

I wouldn't bother with a land rover master cylinder for just 2.8 brakes. Only use it if you are going up to 260mm or 280mm Granada brakes. It's not so much about less effort, it's more about pedal travel. For less effort you'd be looking at a larger servo. It's easy to think Capri brakes feel bad if...

If the bulbs are all good, follow the wire from the bulb and there is a bullet connector. Pull it apart and clean it with some contact cleaner or a needle file.

This question comes up quite often. From what I can see most people think things like the fuel cat are a waste of money. Have a read at this fairly recent thread: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=41160

Capri spotted in apocalyptic British film

Was just watching some clips of a film I found out about called No Blade of Grass, based on the book The Death of Grass. Found this clip with a Capri in it at 2:38.

Anyone ever seen this film? Looks like a forgotten gem of a movie.
