Re: Full cigarette lighter for 1987 2.8

I`d think the scket itself is faulty, maybe shorting somwhere? Initially, that's what I thought the OP was asking for, but reading the post again it looks like they think it's the lighter itself. Either way, I agree with you and the OP should buy the socket and maybe the lighter itself. On the subj...

Re: Capri 2.8i exhaust system

Thanks! There is damage to one rear silencer which I think is repairable, but they are saying not only will it need replacing from front to back, but also both sides as it is a two pipe system. This makes no sense to me. Dismantle and straighten silencer and refit £150 vs whole new exhaust system a...

Re: 2nd cylinder keeps on fouling spark plugs

I've cut down the amount of times that I will answer a post as four others come up with the same or a different answer every time. Well you can rest assured Paul that it will be your posts that many on here will be taking note of and valuing. I know that I do. Your time and effort is far from being...

Having said that I know most people under 30 have no idea how they work, but we aren't all totally useless 😂

Re: Who Remembers?

Still have the one of these my dad made me when I was younger! Currently sat in the shed and looking a bit sorry for itself but looks exactly like this one - plank of wood, pram wheels and the seat area was an old kitchen cabinet I'd hang onto it Danny, sometimes see them for sale at various vintag...

I've not seen anything in the way of rebuild kits for the racks, all we get offered over here is to buy reconditioned racks and you pay slightly less if you give them your old one in exchange

Re: Advice on funny running

Cheers chaps All the exhaust valves had tightened up, inlets were fine so think it's time to bite the bullet. Pain in the arse though, CK in Wycombe have quoted £3-600 including new seats and valves but can't do it until New Year - just a pain in the balls that it comes when the other one is still b...

Re: Advice on funny running

Braved the cold, took the rocker cover off and surprise surprise, exhaust valve on piston 4 is tight as you like. Couldn't feel my fingers after I'd got to that point so will go and adjust them all properly later, but reality is the head needs new seats so if anyone can recommend somewhere to get th...

Re: Advice on funny running

It wasn't long ago that you did the clearances Danny was it - or was that the other car? If you check the clearances pay particular attention to the exhaust valve clearance on the duffy cylinders - tightness could indicate that the valve seats are receding. To check the torque converter you need to...
