..so the resistence of a little 1" filter comes not from the airflow being restricted through the material of the filter, but just from the restriction of the airflow inside the filter.. if you see what I mean.. like a sort of air sandwich..

..but just how likely that is I don't know.

Does a filter really have that much effect on airflow that it richens the mixture up? The resistence through a K+N is intensely slight.

No apparently the DGAV was too lean on the idle jet, too rich on the first choke and too lean on the second one. I think that's right anyway.

..proper old skool setup. And he was freakishly experienced. He looked at some jets - just looked at them before I fired it up - and said "it's been lurching a bit at low revs hasn't it?"

..what kind've you got? I used to have a Samara 1.5.. the only car I've ever driven I never had to jack up - coz it was so high off the ground to cope with the Russian / Polish roads!

Nice! That's a good intintererary. I hate doing points though, I really hate it, gapping them, tightening them up which very slightly tweaks the gap.. and all the time your back's starting to hurt.. grrrrr... well annoying. I hate points.
