Re: Jeepers !! As seller says himself, " whats it worth" ..

I'm sure my 6yr old would love me to drive this! I'm not sure I would have nerve to turn up at his school in it though... I don't mind a few mods but at some point you lose the spirit of the original car which kind of defeats the purpose of having it in the first place. Here are acouple more cars on...

Re: Wiring mystery

Thanks Paul, the car's got a stereo in the glove box so looks like I can hide them back behind the dash and forget about it for now.

Wiring mystery

http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u364/Bracey28i/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_1332_zpsc9mfa3dy.jpg Can anyone tell me what these wires are for please? I've been meaning to ask since I had my clocks out but other issues have been a little more pressing. The right hand switch is obviously the hazard lights...

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Hi guys, Just to conclude I finally got a recored radiator fitted just in time for my 10th anniversary. Much more fun going away in the Capri than her rather bland Toyota! The guage still sits higher than I'd like but it's steady rather than shooting up all the time. Thanks for all the advice - next...

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Thanks for all the advice offered. A new core does look to be a sensible option. Has anyone used Aaron radiators?

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Hi guys, the viscous fan has been removed and the current electric fan is blowing in the right direction once up to temperature. After a fairly short drive (2miles Tops) I've taken a reading of 90 degrees from the radiator when it's at the top of the white section of the guage. I didn't push it into...

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Thanks for the replies guys. The electric fan previously fitted appears to be working correctly. Other than the guage there are no symptoms and it's not boiling over even in the red. I'm not sure how old the radiator is but I was rather surprised by the number of tiny stones that came out when I flu...

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Hi guys, An update on my overheating problem. I've finally had the time to change the thermostat and temp sender for Cci versions along with a replacement housing from capri gear (thanks Martin). I also flushed the rad, heater and block. Yesterday I took it down to box hill to try it out and it's st...

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Thanks for the advice, I've been trying to track down a Ford thermostat using Andrews part number, but it seems they are only available in Germany and Belgium through the Ford dealer network. Tickover recommended those made by Gates (part number TH00682G1) which although works at a slightly lower te...

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Thankyou for all the replies, I've been rather busy with work family commitments etc.. From my understanding if the rad was hot doesn't this mean the thermostat is working? I was just going to change the sensor, caps and then flush. But am I best to change the thermostat regardless? Thanks for your ...

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I left it an hour to cool down while passers by took photos and asked lots of questions - not often you see a capri parked up on the pavement in central london! It seemed fine when I started it so I drove it home with the heater on full blast and all the win...

Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...

Hi guys, My car has overheated in very slow moving traffic in central London. The temperature guage although moving doesn't reflect the actual temperature as I had coolant spitting out the overflow cap by the time I pulled over. Should I wait for it to cool down or should I get it towed and checked ...

Re: Clocks removal

Hi guys, So I've had a go at it today, and naturally it took longer than expected. It probably wasn't helped by me painting the house at the same time. It looks like one or more of the previous owners have been there before me judging by the missing screws and cracked panels. But all the lights work...

Thanks for the clarification Andrew and thanks for the pics Nige. I should be tackling this on Monday as I'm working tomorrow. I'll update once I've had a go!
Many thanks,

Clocks removal

Hi guys, having read some good posts on the subject - namely here (thanks Andrew!) http://www.fordcapriforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=47405 I think I'm ready to improve the illumination on my dash so can see it at night. But I have a couple of questions. How do I remove the speedo cable? A...

Perfect timing!

Hi guys, So I've had my 2.8 a couple of weeks and driven it whenever I've had the chance. The day after I got it we did a five hour round trip to Santa Pod for Classic Ford which was utterly brilliant. Anyway today we had a family dentist appointment having received the reminder text to go. Of cours...

Re: Thinking about a 2.8i

So after a week of waiting I finally picked the car up today. Literally 2 minutes later at the first traffic light, a guy leans out his window and says 'lovin the Capri mate'. While I didn't buy it for the attention, it's certainly attracts it! I don't think I realised how conspicuous they are....In...
