The Capri failed the MOT today

Not a big surprise to me, but the Capri failed its MOT today. I've had an issue with the brakes this year where the the brake pedal starts going spongey after a few weeks of the car standing around idle. Thought I'd sorted the problem recently when I changed both rear wheel cylinders that looked lik...

Re: Breakdown Cover

I use Auto Aid https://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/ It covers me and the wifey in any car we are driving. I haven't needed them yet but others I know rate them for good service. It hasn't got home start or anything fancy but I just need basic cover to get me and the car home if the worst happens. Neil

Re: A couple of bits

So there should be a bung in there ? The one under the bumper ? If so anybody got a link of the bungs I need . I should have said something on Saturday :banghead: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-ford-CAPRI-MK3-rear-1-4-blanking-plugs-nos-genuine-fit-near-to-rear-panel/282966606371?hash=item41e21fc22...

Re: Fuel gauge not working

Hi Neil. I've checked the temp sensor and its reading 5v, fuel sender is around 3.5v. The sender is brand new so connections there are fine & an alternative earth shows up same reading. I'm guessing running new feed wiring from dash to sender may solve the issue but don't fancy ripping dash &am...

Re: Fuel gauge not working

Reading still below 4v so something else must be causing it. Hi Rob, Just to double check, take the wire off the temperature sender and test the voltage there. That should also be 5V. Andrew. Yes this is a good check to make sure the voltage reg behind the dash is working correctly. Another few thi...

Re: A couple of bits

I think the small holes behind the bumper on the rear quarters, were used to inject that horrible sound deadening foam. Mine has a bung with a small hole through the middle which I believe is factory standard.

Re: 2.8 Fan belt

Fairly sure mine are the smaller size. They are a bit hard to get over the pulley but once in the vee are okay. Maybe the larger size fits easier, but you are at the other end of the adjustment and stand a chance of running out of tension when the belts wear or stretch a bit.

Re: Nice eBay 2.8i

I have just been on Doctor Brooklands site and he has some very nice capris on there http://www.brooklands280.com/home.html The £20K 280 seems reasonably priced, in my opinion. I'm not keen on the green 2.8 though. Andrew. Perhaps you'd prefer the Coyote if a green 2.8 is not your cuppa tea Andrew ...

Re: Nice eBay 2.8i

I think the Classic car market has peaked and things will settle down now, hopefully providing some nice reasonably priced cars that the collectors will start to unload and real enthusiasts can own and use :D :agree: Neil, If you have paid big money for a classic car this year, you could well be wa...

Re: Nice eBay 2.8i

This stunning 2.8 Special is on Ebay for £13,250. That looks like a great price to me. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ford-capri-2-8i-special-in-superb-order/123213641021?hash=item1cb01af53d:g:mk4AAOSwbEZbJLsZ I thought the car and the background in the Ebay photos looked familiar, and when I checked I...

Re: CCI Nationals 2018

Weather was great yesterday, I popped out to Beaulieu for a drive, but didn't bother paying to go in as it was late in the day. Watched loads of Fords driving out some old but as usual most were modern. It was the 50 year celebration of the Granada and they had some nice ones leaving, so I had my f...

Mine too. Queens Square is a great meet, but I find myself rushing to get there then it seems to be over before you know it. But I enjoy the drive there and back so it makes for a good day :D

Re: CCI Nationals 2018

It was announced at the prize-giving that the new owner is well-known in Capri circles. Any guesses? That's it, and I hope you enjoyed looking through the photos. Andrew. Gutted I didn't go now Andrew :( I really want to see the Goblin Capri and meet Chris (Coyote500) the new owner. Thanks for post...
