You could shave the door handles off completly and have a remote alarm set up with open/close procedure option. Get yourself a Clifford alarm installed. They're one of the best around plus you can get a pager alarm as an added feature. That way you can physically turn off your siren with the special...

Tailgate struts from a Sierra Xr4i are the one's to have. If you can get your hands on them.
They were built to withstand the additional weight of the tailgate's bi-plane spoiler.
