I forget the details now, I think it was 2005 when I did my V8 cappa, you can get tacho`s with a potentiometer built in, you can use this as a dial to get the tacho to read good, you will also need to know what your engine is idling at in the first place, I used a snap on timing light for that bit.....

oooH i DUNNO, theres a lot to be said for a 2.8 in 3rd at about 35ish MPH, floor it to the redline. I`ve yet to have a pinto keep up.

Have you checked the pipe from the rad to the expansion tank isnt blocked with crud?

It could do if the engine is running at the time, I`d be more inclinde to agree with terra adjust the clutch biting point first, if thats fine then probs the clutch is duff.
